I take it to raise metabolism, helps with weight loss, and blood pressure(not sure

if it is the flax seed or what but my bp is 115/67, so it's pretty good). Having a 26% bf it

helps. Actually I've heard that flax seed shortens recovery time, so it might help with

building muscle.

http://www.essortment.com/all/whatisflaxsee_pfy.htm

RE: body weight workout (manbeast_animal)

can you do body weight exersizes ecery day?...also leg_beast i was wandering what exactly is flax seed like what does it do and what are the benefits for lifting?also can ot help you put on wieght?
RE: body weight workout (manbeast_animal)

 hey
RE: body weight workout (Pssst)

ORIGINAL: David1991

ORIGINAL: Pssst

Someone interesting I saw on bodybuilding.com

http://bodyspace.bodybuilding.com/calisthenicskin/

Apparently, he does only bodyweight exercises. I hate exercising but I like lifting weights. Workouts were dreadful to me and I would loath their approach. Now with lifting I can't wait until Monday so I can hit my legs. After Monday is over I can't wait until Tuesday to do my arms. I know that once my 12 weeks is over I'll have to do cardio to lose fat and I'm already dreading it. That's only 10 weeks away.

EDIT: And unless you've been lifting weights for a while I wouldn't suggest a beginner to do handstand push ups. My shoulder still bothers me. If you are a beginner which I doubt you are then you can benefit from body weight exercises.

If you have some solid kitchen chairs then you can use two of them back to back with room enough for you so that you can do dips and leg raises.

Squat thrusts can put pep in your step by doing a couple of sets of 20. That is if you're a beginner.

RE: body weight workout (Leg_Beast)

ORIGINAL: David1991

ORIGINAL: jonb112303

ORIGINAL: Leg_Beast

One of my coaches has been doing a workout of nothing but bodyweight exercises for most of his life.
His workout every single day is
pushups- 500 reps
situps-500 reps
dips-100 reps
diamond pushups-100 reps
leg raises- 100 reps
pullups-100 reps
and run like an hour a day

Within 5 years he had over 20inch arms.So he's a pretty big dude. He's been doing that workout for like 20+ years.

i dont believe it....atleast not everyday, how do u even have time to do all that in one day?

exactly, it would take hours to get that many pushups, pull ups, and dips even if done in a circuit.

to the OP if ur goal is fat loss then doing circuit training with those bodyweight workouts probably would work fairly well especially if ur just starting out. u can still progress by decreasing rest time, adding reps, adding sets, and putting on a bookbag with added weight. that wont work indefinitely but i'm sure it could last for a few months while cutting

Yeah he did it in a circuit. And unless you have seen him do it then don't say anything. He usually gets done in like 2 hours. Also remember he has done this for years and he can do these exercises extremely fast.
RE: body weight workout (Leg_Beast)

ORIGINAL: jonb112303

ORIGINAL: Leg_Beast

One of my coaches has been doing a workout of nothing but bodyweight exercises for most of his life.
His workout every single day is
pushups- 500 reps
situps-500 reps
dips-100 reps
diamond pushups-100 reps
leg raises- 100 reps
pullups-100 reps
and run like an hour a day

Within 5 years he had over 20inch arms.So he's a pretty big dude. He said he started when he was a teenager, and added reps over time. Anyways he does do it everyday, at practice he would do it while the team does drills and stuff. He also does them in 10 sets in a circuit fashion. So he would do:

pushups- 50 reps
situps-50 reps
dips-10 reps
diamond pushups-10 reps
leg raises- 10 reps
pullups-10 reps

This is all one set. Without a break, it takes him around 5-8 minutes.

He did these in a row exercises then takes a break, then does it 9 more times.

He says he does it on the weekends, but I too found that a little unbelievable. But I ain't going to argue with him, his physique talks for itself.
RE: body weight workout (David1991)

ORIGINAL: jonb112303

ORIGINAL: Leg_Beast

One of my coaches has been doing a workout of nothing but bodyweight exercises for most of his life.
His workout every single day is
pushups- 500 reps
situps-500 reps
dips-100 reps
diamond pushups-100 reps
leg raises- 100 reps
pullups-100 reps
and run like an hour a day

Within 5 years he had over 20inch arms.So he's a pretty big dude.
