(trubeginner)

ORIGINAL: Reset

ok thanks guys.. i was also wondering the effects from it.

I realize that if i got over my maintenance calories.. i will gain weight.. and if i go under, i will lose weight. How does messing with my protein-carb-fat ratio affect weight loss?

Well, your food consumption triggers hormones, such as insulin, which plays a huge role in whether you want to build muscle or lose fat.

The ratio is crucial to be planned if you want to lose weight (which I assume you seek to achieve).

It is important to note that losing weight is good as long as you minimize the muscle loss. There are many tricks to be learned, but generally if you want to lose fat, you should aim for higher protein, and lower carbohydrate.
RE: Calories from fat? (bikinigirls25)

You'll come up with a delicate balance of fat consumption and see if you can count the amoutn of calories you'll burn in your workout. Some people go as far to know this kind of stuff.

RE: Calories from fat? (David1991)

ORIGINAL: Reset

What exactly are calories from fat? How bad are they for me?

I've noticed a lot of foods aren't very bad for you (eg. macaroni and cheese) in areas like calories, sugars, and fat.. but they DO have a lot of calories from fat. What does that mean?

yea like already mentioned a gram of fat has 9 calories. idk what u mean by mac and cheese not being bad in calories and fat though, if it has a lot of calories from fat it has a lot of fat.
RE: Calories from fat? (RedJeep)

it is the amount of calories in the food that come from fat. Fats are 9 cal/ gram while carbs and protein are 4 cal/ gram.

*****you beat me to it!
RE: Calories from fat? (trubeginner)

 Calories from fat are...

Well, they are calories from fat..

1g of protein = 4 cal
1g of carbohydrate = 4 cal
1g of fat = 9 cal

So for example, if a food contains 10g of fat, that would be 90 cal from fat.

Not all calories from fat are bad. Good examples of good fat are peanuts, almonds, avocados, olive oil, fish oil (fat), etc.
Bad fats can be found in, as you know, fried foods, beef fat, chicken fat, etc.
Calories from fat?
