However, my girlfriend does that. I don't know when she's going to accept my lifestyle.
Re:To Be or Not to Be Social (Yet)

If people get pushy with me about eating something I don't want to eat, I get very nasty.
Re:To Be or Not to Be Social (Jane)

Yet

Just let people know you're cutting back, most people are always trying to lose weight so they'll understand.

I dunno about that. Sometimes it works..I have said that before when I am out with friends.
SOMETIMES...
You get real pushy people. Sometimes you HAVE to interact with these people like at work or something. It is bad. If I don't get food, people will leave food on my desk or save it for me. Then I get the whole "well you are going to work it off later" or "you can affoard it" uuummmm nooo it dont work like that.

I end up throwing it away when they leave.

in a social setting outside of work, I choose who I hang out w/ most people I know are understanding and back off a little.

someone posted the "I can't drink because I am taking antibioitcs" excuse. I use that one.
Re:To Be or Not to Be Social (Yet)

Just let people know you're cutting back, most people are always trying to lose weight so they'll understand.
Re:To Be or Not to Be Social (thehardway)

if you're not they'll try and tempt you into 'just one? I don't know why peole just won't let that none sense go. Well, I do, because if others do it they don't have to feel bad about themselves, damn cookie pushers.
Re: RE: To Be or Not to Be Social (Jane)

i like to socialize and eat with one friend in particular. She is my Weight Watchers friend

every drink and bite we eat is low in points and or high in fiber/protein.

she is always giving me recipes for stuff (we like to cook) brownies made with 100% canned pumpkin were super yum
Its funny because were watch what we eat, but we are always talking about food.

Re: RE: To Be or Not to Be Social (Shadowcat)

It's good to be able to just say 'no' and leave it at that. Most of the time,if you're nice, people will leave it.

Some people just don't take no for an answer, and while the temptation is to beat them around the head with a Clue By Four, it's not generally advisable. Sometimes a reason is all people need.

But avoid, avoid, AVOID, 'I'm on a diet.' Like the plague, avoid it. If you're slim, they'll assume you have an eating disorder, if you're not they'll try and tempt you into 'just one? No? Go on...' in a remarkable impression of Mrs Doyle.

Yeah, I think if your abs are showing people wouldn't be asking you why you aren't eating.

But then, that's probably not always the case! :P
RE: To Be or Not to Be Social (Italianangel)

Oh and normaly I am not questioned on it, everyone knows I am hardcore.....and they see my abs and realize how I must of gotten them......
Linda
RE: To Be or Not to Be Social (Italianangel)

Social or not I am able to stay on a regimine if I am on one at the time, I don't find social gatherings or others eating or drinking things around me make any diff so I don't really have any great advice, not to mention I am such a loner that social occasions are rare for me.
Linda
RE: To Be or Not to Be Social (MassCrusader)

I don't go out at all, why force yourself to if you don't want to? I never used to go anywhere where alcohol was served on a consistent basis, you aren't a robot you don't have to drink if you don't want to. Learn to say no and build confidence in yourself.

Remember your fitness goals and practice moderation at the snack trays. You have to shut your mouth to diet properly, there is no way around that, so practicing your "no's" is essential. This applies to me most especially and anyone else also. Don't beat yourself up if you say yes sometimes and keep working towards the self-denial necessary for a great body.

RE: To Be or Not to Be Social (Becky Clawson)

I personally make no excuses...all my friends and family know why I train and what I work towards, and now that I am a pro, I can say it's my JOB LOL!! They do not ask and I do not make them feel bad for eating or drinking around me and honestly I am pretty numb to all of that anyway, my focus is on the company not the food :) I bring my own and discretely eat it.

I DO share nutrition tips and such and people are always very interested in what I do to look this way but I don't browbeat people...and I think they appreciate it! Likewise, they understand about the days when I am just too tired to do anything crazy...so at those times a movie or something low key works best.
RE: To Be or Not to Be Social (Natasha68)

  Awe.
