Drinking cold water and losing 20 pounds fits nicely into that category. But with what marc said it obviously helps to some degree. So Do it anyways after all, bodybuilding is a meticulous game.

RE: Ice water to lose weight (twistedlink)

Im not sayin this is true but what if you body adapted to you leaving your windows open and a fan goin? The body would be used to getting cold all night and trying to keep itself warm, it began to start storing bodyfat easier so it'd cut down on that.

Possible or no

No, adaption to temperatures like that requires generations to go through that kind of thing, though all living organisms have certain defences when put through certain situations.

Chances are to warm itself up it would store fat, not burn it anyway.

As to drinking cold water, its kinda the same with ice cream or whatever.

Your body tries to keep an internal temperature of 37 degrees, so when you drink cold water the body burns any excess calories for direct heat.

RE: Ice water to lose weight (RollingStone)

the reason youd lose so much weight is that youd lose all your water weight because you wouldnt be eating carbs. As soon as you started eating again youd gain it all right back.

RE: Ice water to lose weight (Daniel265)

i have also heard that drinking extremely cold water can lead to slightly more fat loss because the body uses your fat to warm up the water. but i doubt it would make a huge difference!!

RE: Ice water to lose weight (DZL)

Im not sayin this is true but what if you body adapted to you leaving your windows open and a fan goin? Because all night long your body would be burning calories to try and keep you warm.

RE: Ice water to lose weight (Marc David)

I did a video on this:

Drink Water to Lose Weight

There's some evidence to suggest drinking cold or chilled water will give you some boost in raising your metabolism and potentially burning more calories. Could be useful for weight loss.

If you are overweight anyway and dehydrated, then drinking water alone could make a significant impact. But the study concluded that drinking ice water or cold water would burn an additional 17,500 calories annually.

So maybe 5 lbs a year?

RE: Ice water to lose weight (_SpEeD_KiLLs_)

Could be true...I mean if you aint nothing for a week and just drank ice water all the time you might lose some pounds.

Or can ever substitute the cold water with warm water/Apple Juice/Orange Juice.

there is no way you cna lose 20 pounds in A DAY by drinking just cold water. That would be eating nothing for a week and doing njothing but drinking water and doing hardcore cardio everyday...Plus you would be extremely unhealthy for your body.
Ice water to lose weight (CougarLifter)

My friend came up to me and said hey did you knwo you can lose 20 pounds by drinking ice water all day? i personlly have never heard of such thing. but he swore he was right so i figured i would ask if it is true or not?
