Leap up into the air with the one leg and in the air switch legs, then leap off the other leg and keep going until you do 20-30 leaps with each leg. Air Alert is plyometrics and if you are serious about wanting to jump higher and you don't mind the money i promise it works. You can also do one legged calf raises. You don't need weight just get a stair and each leg at a time do 10-20. I am a 6'4'' white guy who can 360 and throw it off the backboard and i owe that to air alert.

Basically, if you want to jump higher, just jump and jump and jump and jump..weights don't work that well for jumping...do jumping exercises that are quick and explosive movements..with the jumping exercises i posted and the ones in the post above mine the key is just to be explosive and every rep is all out. As soon as you hit the ground you should already be on your next jump. The quickness and explosiveness is what you need to be able to jump. And STRETCH

RE: White men cant jump (kingyoto)

ORIGINAL: bulkingup

Here are a couple of drills that are guaranteed to add inches to your verticle leap

1.Knee-up drill
Jump off both feet at the same time( explosively) and bring your knees up into your chest at the height of your leap. These are hard when you first start out but will also help with coordination.do sets of 5 then slowly work up to sets of 10

2. The Leaping larry drill
get next to a wall or under a basketball goal. You will pick a spot on the goal(or wall) that is approx 30 inches above your reach. You may mark a spot on the wall, this gives you a definite spot to reach for. Leap up and touch your mark 10 times with your left hand, then 10 times with your right hand, then 10 times using both hands. Remember jumping MUST be continuous! Every week add i extra leap for left right and both hands, until you reach a total of 15 each. If your original spot gets too easy feel free to move it higher.

These drills really do work,Take it from a 5'11" white guy who can still take the rock to the rack at age 43!

Good luck!

Are you saying you can dunk. If so that's impressive and you better teach me to get hops because i'm about 5'11.

RE: White men cant jump (Booya)

apparently squats aint the best for jumping.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=8fLQ1rI2xZw polymetrics is the way

box jump baby!
RE: White men cant jump (purplenrp1)

do lots of squatts and stuff at the gym. and do 5 sets of 5 reps. and on each rep, come out with explosivness, almost liike your gonna jump, but dont jump.

RE: White men cant jump (BadgerNation)

actually, sure, white men CAN jump if you work hard enough lol. being able to jump is a reflection on how powerful and explosive your legs and core is. doing alot of ab training as well as strengthening your legs and increasing your explosiveness will help you be able to jump higher. doing plyometric workouts and stuff like jump squats and squat oscillations will help your vertical.

RE: White men cant jump (andy)

 um well
~calf raises no
~ankle weights no kill ligiments in your ankles ask my girlfriend about those oO
~Air alert...mad reports of it producing bad knees also it is way to much

Pylometrics YES! mix with Explosive weight lifting will produce the best results. examples- Power clean, Hang clean, Snatch and band squats doing low sets 3-4 low reps 3-5 twice a week with pylos twice a week. such as...

Monday- Power clean 4x3
Tuesday- pylometrics
wednesday-off
thursday- Band squat 4x3
friday- pylometrics

Work to increase the weight your able to do on the lifts and the distance/height u are able to do the pylometrics. Plyometrics is the way to go for sure. I have been a member on here and I have recommended this to other people and anyone I know. I did air alert a few years back and I literally gained 4-6 inches on my vertical in the 6 weeks I did it. The program lasts for 15 weeks but I had to stop because I had a nagging foot injury but before I tried it i thought the claims they made were rediculous but it will seriously help.

Look into this program..google it..it is worth every penny if you are serious about jumping higher..it is a 30-45 minute commitment i would say..my only advice is to take the stretching and warm-up part extremely seriously because the program is rigorous and you can hurt yourself if you dont stretch.

Squats can help a little but plyometric programs are great and air alert works. I know i am enthusiastic about it but that is cuz it is the best way to go.
RE: White men cant jump (bulkingup)

Here are a couple of drills that are guaranteed to add inches to your verticle leap

1.Knee-up drill
Jump off both feet at the same time( explosively) and bring your knees up into your chest at the height of your leap.
