I was also doing OA and following his progress around 2004 and 2005 when he began.

In the meantime I have switched to some other plans that allow me to workout 3 days a week because I don't have time to do 5 days every week.

Also, OA gets really intense and I had a really hard time completing the extremely difficult week where you finish a 5th set with 15 reps. After the weeks where you are required to go hard, there are 3 weeks of not burning out and long long rest times. These weeks get extremely boring and you end up having to walk around the gym in between sets to kill the time.

I also could no longer go 3 weeks without cheating on the protein deprivation weeks. I would be out to eat with people who knew how much I loved food and would only be eating rice and vegetables and it just got annoying having to explain why I was doing it. I was also skeptical that the protein deprivation even worked that well.

However, the OA program did give me some good results. I have a very high metabolism so it's tough for me to gain weight, but I could say that after using it for about year I put on close to 10 pounds. I didn't always eat as much as I should have but I did get decent results.

Nowadays I still use the supersetting principle and many of the "compound" exercises I learned from the program. I also make sure to use good form, which was something else emphasized in the program. If you are debating on whether or not to try this program, I would at least go ahead and give it a try...
RE: Nav's Optimum Anabolic journey (Acujeremy)

I went to the end of week 7 in Optimum Anabolics then quit. My body felt starved of protein and I did not find this healthy. Also, after 7 weeks of doing the plan religiously, I did not get the results I felt that was promised in the program. Are all these gimmicks really necessary? Is it just a program based on good workout techniques that have been put together in a "special" program to make money? What I don't like:

5 days a week lifting. I prefer 4 days a week, maybe with a day in between the 2 days. For instance, I prefer:

Mon- Shoulder
Tues- Back and Bicep
Wed- rest or cardio
Thurs- Legs
Fri- Chest and triceps
Sat & Sun- rest or cardio

He does 8-15 reps. Isn't that too high to build mass? Shouldn't it be like 6-10? Aren't you overtraining when on weeks 3 of progressive overload phase you do 5 sets of 12,10,8,8,15 reps 5 days a week? 15 reps? Then he claims you take 3 weeks to do a mellow workout where you only lift to 2 sets before failure to get your body to be able to build better muscle. 3 minute rests between supersets. I really felt those 3 weeks were almost a waste of time when I could have been training hard. I mean it just sounds like BS to me. I think after training hard you can do a few weeks of lighter weights and higher reps to shock the body, but after three weeks? I don't know about that. He says you'll see mass gains. I didn't see it. I am not good being a vegetarian, especially training 5 days a week.

On the up side, the program got me disciplined and I polished my form due to the program. Also, he has some great ideas about twisting the weights to hit more aspects of the muscle.

In conclusion, I want to know if you feel that Opimum Anabolics actually delivers more for you then just doing a good workout plan. Does the protein cycling work? Does the Hyper adaptive phase work? What if you trained hard for 3 months 4 days a week and did cardio at least 2 times a week, slept well, and ate right? Would it be any different than OA?

I'd love to hear your comments.

RE: Nav's Optimum Anabolic journey (smf_4ever)

All my journal writings are all paper.. The comments on the 1st round of the low protein are too good.

I am currently in Week 8... hating life.. but seeing gains/fat loss.... But.. I would not have survived without Nav's little tip (diet journal) and made atleast 1 meal a week of freakin Chips and Salsa.. lol...

RE: Nav's Optimum Anabolic journey (Naviator)

Immediately post workout I am starving and proteing tastes especially good. I can't speak to the effectiveness of it because I didn't try it without to see if there was a difference. I would say you are safe doing it exactly the way the book tells you to. Feed your body because this program will exhaust you.

RE: Nav's Optimum Anabolic journey (Krieger)

I have studied much of mister naviator's journal in the proccess, and I got the conclusion that diet is very important to any program. In case of Optimum Anabolics, the program is so powerfull that even with a week calories diet, he got muscle mass, probably from the testosterone boost. With proper diet and serious eating, mass would be exploding from everywhere round his body

BTW, if anyone that ever used this program, please ask my question - Did you took the 30 gram of fat immediatly post workout? Was it worth it?
RE: Nav's Optimum Anabolic journey (Krieger)

I'm on week five. Yeah, I have good results so far. Weekends' Friends call me leaner and stronger :) The weight seems to be around the same, I guess I'm burning some fat and gainning muscle at the same time. Anyway, i'm eating more. Take a peek in my journal as I will soon post pictures and measurements.

RE: Nav's Optimum Anabolic journey (iliveunderwater)

Hi there people, I'm new here, and I just got to know the Optimum Anabolics program but I havent tried it yet. It sounds amazing, I always don't have cash for those additional supplements anyway which is great. Hey any of you guys see results from this program yet? I really would like to see some before & after pictures here before I start, especially from mr. Naviator here since I heard he is the most experienced here, if you don't mind that is mr.Naviator.

RE: Nav's Optimum Anabolic journey (Krieger)

Hello! Very funny you returned, because I recently started with Optimum Anabolics and I was very cetic about it, and you were one of the people that showed the power of the program. I noticed that even with poor diet you made great gains, so it was a lesson that with the right diet and some sup help you can go very far.

Thanks for returning! Take a peek in my log and procceed with yours, more strong than ever :)
RE: Nav's Optimum Anabolic journey (veggeep)

I wouldn't miss the sig pic if you made it just a wee bit smaller Deamn! Every time I read a Nav thread, my cat hisses at my screen

RE: Nav's Optimum Anabolic journey (Naviator)

Oh shut the hell up, you missed me.

RE: Nav's Optimum Anabolic journey (rippedchick)

  Nooooooooo!

RE: Nav's Optimum Anabolic journey (veggeep)

And the clouds parted, and lo, a great thundering meow was heard.

RE: Nav's Optimum Anabolic journey (Old Navy)

NAV has taken to becoming a lurker around here. He is just quietly checking up on everyone, while his personal life is sky high, so to speak.
