It's wrong for several reasons.

What you are suggesting is that there should be 2 hour gaps between meals if someone was to consume 50g's of whey protein. Assuming an individuals typical meals consist of around 400 calories and 50g's of whey is roughly 200 cals, if someone was to consume 50g's of whey between those meals, that gives a total of only 2 solid meals within 6 hours and a total of only 1000cals.

As you stated protein uptake varies from person to person. As a result 50g's could actually be undershooting. I thought you may have responded with information about protein absorption, as opposed to protein to fat conversion. To suggest than people should use only 50g's of protein and not eat for 2 hours to avoid fat gain is very far fetched.

If any fat is gained as a result of consuming too much protein (much more than 50g's)the result is likely to be miniscule. Slighty overshooting the requirements of the body is always more beneficial than undershooting. The same applies to general food / calorie intake, which is why fat gain is an inevitable and accepted part of "bodybuilding".

50gs is a fair rule of thumb, but avoiding food for 2 hours isn't.
RE: Whey Protein (trubeginner)

ORIGINAL: fresha

Why do you say that?

Because, everone's capaballity of digesting protein is different. Too much protein in a meal will lead to the abundancy of protein, which will be transfered to fat.
So, I would say that 50grams of protein in a 2 hour time is a wise principle.

RE: Whey Protein (fresha)

A wise principle is not to consume 50grams of protein during a 2 hour period. When are you going to drink it?

It depends on your protein intake during the time.

A wise principle is not to consume 50grams of protein during a 2 hour period. This means, if you just have 50g, don't eat anything in a 2 hour time.

After workout, you should look for simple carbs, like honey, banana.

I would drink 1.5 scoop of it.

You are welcome!
Good luck!

RE: Whey Protein (AJ14)

at the moment i am using a whey protein, with 30g per scoop.

each scoop (30g) has 26.9g of protein.

How many scoops should i be drinking up?

Thanks again,

AJ
RE: Whey Protein (trubeginner)

ORIGINAL: Caesar

Truebegginer is right.

At 20-25% BF you should probably concentrate on cutting up a bit first.

Possibly kick up the cardio to more days a week, possibly every day if you can. You will also need to have a slight caloric deficit of say 500 below your maintenance.

Make sure you still lift weights 3-4 days to stop your body eating all your muscles away and not look like a marathon runner.

I did something like this and dropped 15% BF in a few months without losing any visible muscle. Actually looked bigger in the mirror as my muscles started to show.

Then when you are satisfied with your BF %, start a bulking phase. Like the other guys say, try to stick to just Whey, the Mass Gainers powders are full of simple carbs which you dont really need except pre/post workout nutrition.

Good luck!

What you meant to 3-4 days of lifting is don't lift too much, or lift adequately so your muscles won't break ?
Well, in my opinion, in your cutting phase(I am refering to AJ14), you shouldn't use whey gainers, and stick to whey protein. You should do more reps with a bit lighter weights during cutting.
When you look to bulk up, then, a whey gainer, is probably worth thinking.

RE: Whey Protein (ranger20)

i would like to suggest taking a casien at night so you do not burn all your muscle off, if you are going to be doing all that cardio. for your cardio do hiit after your lifts, it only takes a few minutes and it works great.

RE: Whey Protein (Caesar)

 Truebegginer is right.

At 20-25% BF you should probably concentrate on cutting up a bit first.

Possibly kick up the cardio to more days a week, possibly every day if you can.
