But through technology (whether it be a caveman with a spear, or a farm) and evolution (a developed lactose tolerance, and the invention of cooking) has made dairy and meat products an acceptable part of our diet. And I'm just as comfortable eating a cows evolved "mucus" as I am taking a chunk of it's ass and throwing it on a grill . At least that's my take on it.

RE: Is milk actually a poison?I (fjord)

Milk has been drunk from the viking days and even earler. Certainly after thousands of years of drinking cows milk we would have adapted to milks "bad effects", by the sounds of that article the only bad thing about milk is what we humans put into it (BGH). It surely doesnt even come close to being as bad for you as alchohol, smoking, being exposed to herbicides, and pesticides, non stick frying pans, tv remotes, plastic water bottles, this list could go on forever. The way i see it is that milk is at the very very very very bottom of potential poisons to worry about.
RE: Is milk actually a poison?I (prophet)

I drink like a gallon a week. So ... Milk! Milk! Milk! Milk!
RE: Is milk actually a poison?I (thehardway)

ORIGINAL: veggeep

What Linda means is human beings are the only mammals that continue to drink milk voluntarily after they've been naturally weened off it. And I'll second her sentiments about the stuff -cow's milk is for baby cows. It is a legitimate biological absurdity that human beings consume cow's milk (or that of any other mammal, for that matter) at all.

Many carnivorous animals, that have killed a lactating mama prey, will absolutely lap up the milk of their kill, they won't let it seep into the ground.

I have no idea how long I was on the boob so I should talk!
I know my sister got my niece off in 3 mths, due to working, single mom having to go back to work, and Belinda is now 20+ and a great member of society, not a mama girl at all and very stable...........plus mysister is not the best person to be a mom to be honest so we are lucky Belinda went through normal teen stuff only and did not become a killer herself........we were all sure she would have run away from home as a young one and get into drugs and booze............so basically it was a rant, I get frustrated with parents who are unplanned and have kids cuz they WANT to putting all the burden on society plus putting these kids out in our space for us to suffer their poor upbringing......and my dogs being bette behaved than most kids cannot go to my coffee shop and sit inside because its offensive.............its a PEEVE of mine. Ill behaved kids are offensive to me, and its not them who anger me its the parents who sit there and let it happen. I am not saying they have to be beaten or over disciplined like I was, I could not budge or say a boo or I was slapped, I could not wander, run in the store or open my mouth without being told I could...........yet I go to the cannery for a 100+ dollar per plate meal and have to listen to a wailing newborn and watch them breast feed and see the kid freak out when it should be at home!
If you want a kid then you have to sacrifice some things............don't take them out to burden society unless you know your kid can handle it. AGain my opinion, again ranting away off the subject............
Linda

Sing it sister!!!

You don't see supplement manufacturers fabricating hysteria about calcium deficiency to sell whey protein. You don't find pesticides and antibiotics in whey protein. Unfortunately, it still requires cows and the whole ugly dairy business with it's inhumane biproducts (i.e. the veal industry, but I'm sure there are plenty of reputable companies out there who would step up to the challenge of humane, clean whey production if more consumers demanded it.

I just don't believe that it's an all or nothing arrangement.

Personally, I cut my whey 50/50 with soy and blend it with soy milk.

You have some very good points, and for the most part I agree with everything you are saying. I guess I was just trying to highlight the idea that some of us could be coming close to hypocritical veiws.. (no one specific - just in general)

Coming from somewhat of a dairy background (my Dad worked on one) I know how ugly it is and I dont like it at all.

I guess its just that so many of these industries are all run this way, I couldnt really just single out the dairy industry. I guess if you want to do it properly, you need to create your own utopia where you were 100% self sufficient and treated every animal properly and humanely....

I have another question, why did this thread become a sticky at the top? It doesnt really serve much of an educational purpose There has been no defining answer here, just a lot of opinions and theories.
RE: Is milk actually a poison?I (Imanerd)

ORIGINAL: veggeep

Personally, I cut my whey 50/50 with soy and blend it with soy milk.

Much like smack, except not heroin and crack, and not taken intraveinously...

so nothing at all like smack really...

cutting your whey with something else just sounds so... rebellious.
RE: Is milk actually a poison?I (veggeep)

ORIGINAL: Wannabe_Draper

Wow, this is an interesting thread to read

Sorry to drag us back to the original topic...

ORIGINAL: gzinkl
Oh yeah. Or my whey protein.

Yes lets not forget the whey protein that us bodybuilders covet so much.

A question for all people anti-milk... do you use whey protein?
