I just started working out and weighed 138 two weeks ago, now i way 147.5. I take protein after each workout and am eating better nutrition wise. I make sure I drink plenty of water everyday to keep hydrated. Is the weight gain because of me just starting out?
thanks

RE: Weight Gain (WDNinABQ)

It's also possible that a lot of that could be water weight. Did you start taking creatine recently?

RE: Weight Gain (Marc David)

Depends. Meaning.. not usually. About 1 lb a week is safe. Too much weight can and it can be a lot of fat as well if you are eating to excess. And then again, if you are new, a beginner, you might make some amazing fast gains which taper off later. So it sort of depends. That's like 4.5 lbs a week. 300% more then normal. So you have to check and see if the gain is muscle or mostly fat?

Just visually look and notice if you are gaining weight in areas that you shouldn't? Does the muscle look bigger or do you just have more size in the abdominal area?

Weight Gain (joe_cool)

I am currently taking protein supplements after lifting at that gym.
