Then you can start alternating heat/ice therapy for a further 7 days or as long as needed. &lt;br&gt;   &lt;br&gt;  In the acute phase of an injury (there are some exceptions), you want to avoid heat therapy. Stick to ice only for a little while longer. Get someone to do some deep massage.
