So eventuallly you will have to buy iron ones.
RE: Sand Weights vs. Metal Weights (ironraider52)

in my opinion, sand weights allow the weight to shift or u could be doing much less then u think, or much more.

I would just rather stick with the metals or rubber(bumped plates.
RE: Sand Weights vs. Metal Weights (twistedlink)

I had 3lbs dumbells when i was 6-7 ish, they were cool.
Kinda gave up after a few months when they werent that heavy, then got back to weightlifting aged 16 ish lol.

My g/f bro uses sand ones (theyre plastic at least and weight hardly anything even though theyre bigger than my metal ones) and i hate using them, i prefer metal.
RE: Sand Weights vs. Metal Weights (veggeep)

Which weighs more? 50 pounds of feathers, or 50 pounds of bricks?

Just kidding. Yeah, I used to have those big, bubble-butt Bollinger plastic weights when I was a kid. THey were filled with concrete. Peachy if you can load the bar without maxing out, but like BgJay says, you can fit more on the bar with iron.

What matters is that you bring the resistance, and bring it often. I've got nothing but respect for those guys who were so hungry to lift as kids that they curled sacks of potatoes and bench pressed milk cartons full of sand -THAT'S heart, gents!

RE: Sand Weights vs. Metal Weights (BgJay)

sand is cheaper so if your on a buget its deff the way to go but one can only fit so much on the bar when using sand for myself i had reached that point by the time i was 15 metal weights hold up much better to if you drop a sand weight you will crack it on the other hand if you drop a metal weight you will crack the floor metal is deff the way to go if its in your buget if not sand will hold you over for a minute or two but your limited

Sand Weights vs. Metal Weights (LTD)

I have both kinds, i heard metal is better than sand..
