This way, you can handle more weight, and more weight handled does mean more strength gains- But it also means more muscle gain, since there always comes a point where your body will have to build more muscle in order to get stronger. There's only so much it can do with the muscle it already has.
When it comes to dumbbell presses, you're forcing each arm to work independently, which means there are far more angles that the weight has to be stabilized within. Your stabilizer muscles will get more of a workout here, and stronger stabilizers translate to a stronger barbell bench press.
The bottom line is, for the best results, you should do both within your chest workout. Flat barbell bench press, however, is definitely considered a must-have exercise for building the chest. It's an excellent compound movement, it uses and builds more muscle, and is one of the three big powerlifting moves- Bench, deadlift and squat.
RE: Dumbbell Chest Presses (Booya)

I have been doing dumbbell presses with a hammer grip and i do enjoy it

i usually bring the bells down to my chest touching and then striahgt back up rather than bringing them down and makin my arms go a right angle to my fore arm.

another popular exercise in my gym is the incline dumbbell press where they do bring th arm to a right angle and sometimes intagrate a twist into the exercise.

i dont know if this varies the chest muscle or just helps with the secondry muscles to the exercise
Dumbbell Chest Presses (YupYup)

Is it true that doing dumbbell chest presses will help with size of your chest while doing barbell chest presses will help more with strength?

I am looking to make my chest stick out more. I am content with the width of it, now I want more volume. I do plenty of flies as well as presses, but now I want to concentrate on one type of press. Barbell or Dumbbell?
