Go look at Lee Haney, that guy is rediculous. The "pros" nowadays are killing the sport, IMO. Bodybuilding in my opinion is more about the symetrical yet powerful look. It is not and should not be about monster mass. Coleman and Cutler and the other current "pros" just look like freaks, but when you look at guys like Haney, he actually looks pretty decent and like people wouldnt see him as a freak. But thats just my opinion

Re: RE: Greatest Bodybuilder of all time (AdamScott)

Dorian Yates ; A man from a poor English background who built his dream through the remote gyms in southern Britain to gain what was for six years, generally (as is) considered via the competition as the best physique in the world.

Re: RE: Greatest Bodybuilder of all time (acassidy89)

Agreed with the comments about steroids. They help, and that's it, it takes a great deal of work and dedication for those body builders to get where they are. For me, though, I would have to say Arnold all the way. Although controversial, his book, the Arnold Encyclopedia, has many great workouts imo.
Re: RE: Greatest Bodybuilder of all time (BodyBuildingNovice)

people need to quit it with steroids, even if you do take steroids it still takes massive amount of hardcore work to get where these people are at ( or were at). I don't think natural takes more hardwork than steroid users in terms of achieving a nice physique I think it's equal work... just both aren't on the same level.
Re: RE: Greatest Bodybuilder of all time (Solomon Grundy)

[id=tmppasteie1219083796608]You know what takes more effort than developing a legendary physique with steroids?

Developing a legendary physique without steroids.

Re: RE: Greatest Bodybuilder of all time (kingyoto)

Wyms is right you won't get massive just by taking steroids it's a lot of work.

Re: RE: Greatest Bodybuilder of all time (Wyrms)

Solomon Grundy

Yet

I think it's funny that people are saying guys like Ronnie Coleman and Arnold got as big as they did because of steroids.

You try taking steroids and see if you get that big. You won't.

How about you try getting that big without taking steroids.

I think you misunderstood what he was trying to say, or are just oblivious to how steroids actually work.

You can't get big just by taking them. Ronnie and Arnie were hectic with their training and even more so with their diet to accommodate that, and even then they were smart with their usage of the needle.
Without heavy training and the several healthy meals of the day, with or without steroids, you will not grow.
You have to be anal about these things.

You can't just take steroids, train and expect to get massive. It's a lot harder and a lot more complicated than that. And above all else, not worth it - but them being able to achieve what they did is a real feat in the bodybuilding world.

I hope I don't get banned or something for this post.
Re: RE: Greatest Bodybuilder of all time (Solomon Grundy)

Yet

I think it's funny that people are saying guys like Ronnie Coleman and Arnold got as big as they did because of steroids.

You try taking steroids and see if you get that big. You won't.

How about you try getting that big without taking steroids.

Re: RE: Greatest Bodybuilder of all time (Yet)

I think it's funny that people are saying guys like Ronnie Coleman and Arnold got as big as they did because of steroids.

You try taking steroids and see if you get that big. You won't.
RE: Greatest Bodybuilder of all time (Solomon Grundy)

 Eugen Sandow

RE: Greatest Bodybuilder of all time (HEARTS)

 Steve Reeves

RE: Greatest Bodybuilder of all time (Pssst)

Frank Zane for me as well.

Steve Reeves isn't a total mass monster, but he's looking good (no homo)
RE: Greatest Bodybuilder of all time (boomersooner1331)

it's sad that everyone picked arnold or ronnie coleman just because those are the only ones they know

lee haney wins, hands down. look him up on google. the pictures of the guys yall have posted have little legs......take a look at lee haney
RE: Greatest Bodybuilder of all time (MassCrusader)

ORIGINAL: BodyBuildingNovice

ORIGINAL: MassCrusader

Myself, because I work hard and have been for years and I am natural and always will be. No one is ever going to compete in Mr. Olympia unless the juice more likely than not. My goal is to get as huge as possible without steroids, but I have never seen any natural bodybuilders get that large. You guys can fawn over these guys all you want, but you have to take their physiques with a grain of salt knowing they are juiced.

I admire natural bodybuilders far more for their efforts, despite the lesser size than the juiced guys. And most importantly, I admire myself more than anyone else in the world, and I won't share the throne with anyone else.

Steroids for pro body builders is like protein power and creatine for us (us excluding me as i dont use them)... Ya ya we can say that steroids are bad, we can say its cheating or we can say it's not but who cares? Steroids isn't everything, sure they look bigger than any of us because they did take steroids, but it's not like they put the needle in and watch themselves grow, they still have to put the effort out and the food in, its not like they didn't have to lift horrendous(sp) amount of weight and just eat chips all day long, i respect em steroids or not!

This is why sometimes on the threads they tell new comers ( don't do that that's what a pro bber would do) i can bet anything that none of us on these forums could take they're lifting program and just get away with it, they work probly harder than us.

Actually, I used to work out with similar routines to those guys and I was and still am skinny. It's cheating and cheap, I'm not judging those guys but it isn't the best thing to do and I won't do it, even if that means being skinnier. You don't really know your own strength I believe when you do steriods, so IMO, it isn't worth it. I believe I know how to bulk up now that I understand protein intake better, but having lifted so long for strength only, I don't think it is necessary to take steroids and I don't idolize people that do. They work hard, but the results are a byproduct of something artificial in their systems and that isn't wholesome.
RE: Greatest Bodybuilder of all time (BodyBuildingNovice)
