people choose to do them because half of the bullshit supplements out on the market today dont even work and are way overpriced for how ****ty they are. but dont just jump into the juice game, stick to a good diet and workout shcedual for a while. then do a ton of research about it, then do them. and if you do PCT and everything correctly you'll be safer..not compltly safe but after long term steroid users i know got blood test they were perfectly healthy. ppl just say its so bad so ppl wont do them cause its illegal. and this forum is like an innocent lil boy forum, no1 here knows anything about steroids or wants anything to do with them, go somwhere else and do your own research to find out about em.

Definitely agree with the statement about this forum, for the most part. I don't want anything to do with them. But it's because I do know a little something about them. For me, a major issue is roid rage- Regardless of what anyone says, it does happen, and it's not pretty. I personally know two people- They're cousins- Whose marriages damn near fell apart because they were juicing, pissed off all the time, and getting a little physical with their wives. They knew what was causing it the whole time, too- But they did like those gains. Personally, I've got enough stuff in life to piss me off, and I don't like it. I prefer to be happy, I don't need some chemical telling me to be pissed when there's no real reason. I gain enough with good food and supplements, and I know if I wanted to gain more, I could simply work harder on my diet, workout or rest. I'm not about to look for an easy way to quick gains, because once you go down that road, it's hard for some people to control themselves. If a couple of cycles of roids will get you x amount of gains, and you're the type of person who wants those quick and easy results, chances are you'll be doing more than just a couple of cycles- You'll find yourself doing more to get more. Before you know it, you're actually a different person from when you started- Getting pissed at the ones you love, overreacting to minor things, trying to take out your aggression in all sorts of directions- When I tell you that neither one of these guys I know would have ever laid hands on a woman before, I'm dead serious. Roids turned both of them into a wife beater- Something I personally despise. Anyone who'd like to consider themselves a man should feel the same way. The thing is, it really wasn't them- It was the roids. Once everything came to a breaking point, where they were both given ultimatums, their wives were ready to leave with the kids, only then did they wise up and stop juicing. They returned to their normal selves, and neither one has ever forgiven themselves for what happened. They both became what they also considered to be less than men- They became men who hit women, and they have to live with that for the rest of their lives. Now I'm not saying that everyone who tries roids or uses them regularly is going to start slapping mothers around. I am saying that protein shakes and healthy food don't have that possible side effect- They simply do not affect your system in that way, and the payoff in the long run is all good. I tend to think of the possibilities involved, and ask myself if it's really worth it- Is there a chance I could react like this by introducing different substances into my system? Yes, there's a chance. I don't know for sure, but it's possible. What am I looking to get out of this experience? Larger muscles. It'd be nice to look in the mirror and be bigger. It'd be nice to go to the gym and be able to lift more weight. Is the possible trade off worth it? Not to me, no. Can I reach those goals with other means that don't carry those possible side effects? Yes. For me, it's an open and shut case. While I'm quite sure there are tons of steroid success stories out there, I know for a fact there are also tons of not so good stories. For me, lifting is a part of a well rounded life- It's not my whole life. I have other things I want to do, and I don't want to give anything else the chance to get in the way of those things. So, this innocent little boy's going to eat right and lift weights. I'll gain what I can through my own determination and hard work in the kitchen and the gym, along with some patience.

I have personally seen three people in competitions who showed serious side effects from steroid use. The first was backstage at the 2005 NPC Northern Kentucky in Covington, KY. One of my competitors, a man in his 60s, came up to me after prejudging and said, "Scott, I gotta go home." I asked him, "Why?" He said, "Ah, I just pissed up a bunch of blood and I gotta go. I'm in pain." This guy was "using" in his 60s, to try to win a $25 trophy. He never returned for the evening show. I saw him in the audience at this year's Northern Kentucky. He looked awful. He didn't compete. The second was backstage at the 2005 NPC Southeastern Gold's Gym Classic in Gadsden, Alabama. One young body builder went into a total body cramp because of diuretic dehydration and post cycle trauma. He never made it to the stage and instead wound up in the Emergency Room at the local hospital. He nearly died. The third was back stage at the 2006 NPC Atlantic USA in Norcross, GA. A very muscular, very ****y young man was boasting how the Open Championship had to "go through me!" He placed Fourth in his weight class. After the Awards Ceremony, he went back stage and smashed his Fourth Place trophy against the wall and broke it into several pieces, while roundly cussing the judges and anyone else he thought cheated him out of his First Place win. All of these guys were juicers. All three of the incidents occurred at NPC shows, which do not test for illegal drugs. I have competed in four NPC shows and found the backstage atmosphere moody, sullen and unfriendly. I have also competed in seven drug-free shows which test their athletes for illegal muscle enhancement drugs. The backstage atmosphere is upbeat and friendly. Drug free shows are a lot of fun. I will not enter another non-tested bodybuilding contest. I am not bragging about this, but merely making a point: I won six trophies in the four non-tested NPC shows as a natural athlete, proving you don't have to "juice" to win. I have also won 14 trophies in the seven tested shows, and had a lot of fun competing on a level playing field with like-minded athletes who put it all on the line, naturally.

This definitely brings it home for me- Even people who take this sport to the extreme level- competition- like our man Old Navy, can excel without their use, and have fun doing it.

Hearts: I am 63 and I do take supplements: Creatine with phosphates L Glutamine Branch Chain Amino Acids (BCAA) Protein Powder Multi Vitamins During the last two weeks of contest prep, I take "legal" fat burners. I eat lots of the right food: egg whites, 96% lean beef, chicken, turkey, vegetables, salad, oatmeal, water. I eat five or six meals (extra carb meal) a day and drink at least a gallon of water. I train with heavy weights and do lots of cardio. I work out five days a week for about 90 minutes. Before every natural competition, I must take and pass a polygraph (lie detector) or urinalysis test to determine any illegal drug use. I have never failed one of these tests.

I think this is a thread that needs to go "up top" just to explain why DB probably isn't the best place to ask about steroids or to get help in regards to them. While I fully understand it's part of the sport, it doesn't have to be part of DiscussBodybuilding. As Carl pointed out, there's several other forums with more experienced individuals. Now if you want to stay and talk natural bodybuilding or just discuss that aspect? Then WELCOME to DB! It's just when Kris and I started DB, we opted to leave that section out along with all the sex pictures and personals. It was a decision we made when DB started.
