re-start - help needed - Friday, November 24, 2006 5:53 AM ( #1 )
guys

i'm 45 and about 2 stone over weight
have got a home gym and treadmill

am happy to diet and do as much cardio as necessary to lose weight and slim down.

love to weight train and build mussle too - but not as priority (weight loss !)

can you help with a suggested program with sufficient rest and recouperation.

i work in construction (on tools) every day - so am quite fit and strong (though need to be much fitter )

thanks
rob

Hi Rob,

In designing your weight loss program, don't think cardio is the answer alone.  You should consider combining weight training with cardio.

But first things first--while you'll need to exercise to help lose the extra weight, have you got your diet in line?

thanks for your reply

my diet is prety simple at the moment
ie.. - smaller portions - cut out junk food / sweets etc, that's about it really !

i was training 3 times a week with weights and running 3 time a week up to a few weeks ago
i was feeling ok but very tired far too often

i think i was over doing the weights by doing the same work out 3 times a week.

any ideas ? suggestions ?
all help appreciated.......

thanks

You shouldn't be training the same muscle after a couple days. It doesn't give it enough recovery time. You'll most likely overtrain it.
