rate my legs workouts routine.. - Saturday, June 28, 2008 2:29 PM
Alright i made this routine myself so im a bit scared that it may not be effecient enough so id appreciate anyone that can tell me if it has any problem.
Squats.3 sets 20 reps each.
Legs extention.3 sets 8 reps each.
Legs curls.4 sets of 8 reps for each.
Lever standing calves raises.3 sets 20 reps for each.
And im thinking of including hang cleans but iv been told that doing 5 workouts for a certain muscle can lead to overtraining especially when considering how hard my routine is .so i might be replacing one of those workouts with hang cleans so any suggestion which workout could i replace with hang cleans ( im having legs extention in mind atm ).
Thnx in advance
Pssst

Overtraining is tossed around too often.

Add more weights to your squat if you can do 20 (given you have good form)
I would change out the Leg curls and extension for SLDL, and hang cleans does seem like a good idea.

20 rep squats are fine on occasion but i wouldnt do a 3x20. if anything do 2 sets of breathing squats which would probably be more like 1x20 followed by 1x15 or so

other than that it looks pretty low volume, depends on how often ur doing it though. nothing wrong with leg curls IMO but might want to switch things up with SLDL and leg ext. with presses.

with calves depending on how urs respond u might want to do more for them

F leg extensions. they are a useless exercise, and most of all, dangerous. YOu might say 'i dont feel them hurting Tom' and i reply 'just wait. it will catch up to you'

Amen.

Leg extensions aren't a useless exercise, though. They look great in magazine ads, commercials, and pictures. Hell, I'm probably gonna take some pictures pretending that I do them.

hahahaaahaa

Um, hang cleans, although a better exercise, are no replacement for extensions and curls.  They focus more on the upper back/traps more than anything else, and shouldn't be done on leg day imo.

Replace them with SLDL / lunges.

wut? replace squats? on leg day?!

here is a good leg workout:
Squats (Front or back)
Leg Press (vertical or 45 degrees)
Stiff Leg Deadlift
Calf Raises

Thats all you need. Short and sweet.
