Nice link.

Without looking more closely at the actual study we won't know if they really lost fat or not...they lost 4.4 pounds in 3 months!  I imagine had they structured their exercise better (adding resistance training) as well as fixing up the diet...they would have lost more like 12 pounds!

Just in case it dissappears...

The omega-3 fatty acids found in some kinds of fish, especially salmon and tuna, have already been shown to slow aging of the human brain. Now a small study from researchers at the University of South Australia concludes that daily doses of fish oil containing these same fatty acids are effective in helping obese people lose weight when combined with moderate exercise.

"The omega-3 found in fish oil increases fat-burning ability by improving the flow of blood to muscles during exercise," lead researcher Alison Hill told Reuters.

The study:
Sixty-eight overweight and obese people were divided into four groups. During this three-month study, the groups were randomly assigned to one of the following regimens:
  • Small daily dose of fish oil rich in omega-3 fatty acids with a 45-minute walk or run three times a week.
  • Small daily dose of fish oil rich in omega-3 fatty acids with no exercise.
  • Small daily dose of sunflower oil with a 45-minute walk or run three times a week.
  • Small daily dose of sunflower oil with no exercise.

No other alterations were made in any of the participants' diets; they were allowed to eat whatever food they wanted.

The results:
Those who took the fish oil and exercised lost an average of 4.4 pounds over the three-month study period. Those who took the sunflower oil, which contains no omega-3 fatty acids, did not lose any weight. In addition, the two groups that did not exercise did not lose weight. "We were very surprised to see it was so effective, especially since these people were still eating whatever they wanted," Hill told Reuters.

Previous research at the Rush University Medical Center in Chicago found that omega-3 fatty acids boost brain functioning, lower the risk of stroke and helps protect the brain as people age.

You know what is odd is when I start eating fish I lose weight faster than when I am eating chicken... The starchy and fibours carbs stay the same... where I may eat 1 chicken breast Ill eat 2 pieces of fish... Interesting...
Eat...Lift....Sleep......Repeat

Enjoy the process.. but crave the goal.
