If you talk to a dietitian they will tell you to eat 0.8g if you are working out (daily recommend protein intake according to Dietitians Association of Australia). But I have read article saying up 1.5g of protein for every pound. Taking up to 1.5g of protein per kg will help your body speed up you metabolism (anything greater than 1.5g will not increase your metabolism any further), as protein is harder to digest then carbs and fat (it almost takes as much energy to digest the amino acids as they provide). I would be having 1g+ of protein per kg from good sources of whole proteins.
