More importantly, make sure your lady is eating properly.  She that she eats lots of protein, vegetables, good dairy products, lots of water and a good pre-natal vitamin.  Walking is good and light weights are fine.  She shouldn't worry about adding weight.  This is not about her, it's about your baby.

I think she can do anything modified. Walking is good for her. When my friend was pregnant she continued to do the kickboxing classes-everything was modified. Actually most of my active/athletic friends continued the same routine, but they modified it (when pregnant).

follow up with all the med appts make sure she and the baby are doing well...

getting one of those books about being pregnant (I think it is called What to Expect When You are Expecting not sure who the author is-or any book) can be helpful. Her body is going to go through A LOT of changes.

Good Luck with everything :)

I know certain ab work is out (lying on stomach and I do believe lying flat on her back, as well), and I know after a certain stage of pregnancy she needs to be carefull about how high her heart rate gets, obviously the walking is not going to be a problem.

I can't be more specific than that, as I have no intrest in having children, so this stuff doesn't concern me. BUT, "the Body Sculpting Bible for Women", has a whole section on weight work for pregnant women. I started my weight lifting with that book, and the routines aren't bad (not hardcore bodybuilding, but ok ), and the small chapter on pregnancy might be usefull for her, especially if she wants to maintain her current fitness level, and ease the actual birthing process.

There are trainers who specialize in working with pregnant women. You could set up a session with a good one and they should give you lots of pointers and training advice.

I used to teach a Pre and Post natal exercise classes..  Generally the rule of thumb is don't add anything new but you can continue the same exercises you're currently doing.  What happens is hormones are released especially later in the pregnancy to help loosen up ligaments in the pubic area for birthing.  The problem is, it's not discriminate.  It loosens up all ligaments.  That's when you really need to be careful about any higher impact exercise.  I taught step well into my 8th month...but I was tired.  I gave it up 1 month prior to my due date.  BE cautious of abdominal work.  The Linear Alba will start to show separtation as the hormomes start to loosen up those ligaments.  Do abs against a wall or even wrap a towel around your midsection.  Grabbing the towel, one end in each hand, use it like a splint to give support.  Importantly...talk to the Doctor.  They will be best in determining what is right and wrong to do.  And lastly.... CONGRATULATIONS!

Hopefully I was helpful....
