Well, I workout about 45 minutes after school and I was goign to start taking whey protein (mixed with gatorade) about 30 minutes before I workout, and then a protein bar (16g of protein) within 15 minutes of working out and then getting something to eat (no more than 500 calories in that meal). How does this sound? Is  that good or do I need more/less?

you shouldn't be eating right before your workout...if you eat before your wo it should be at least 1 hour before...the protein shake 30 mins before should be ok though

yeah get that meal in within 30 mins after your workout...shoot for 600-800 calories though...and some more carbs, and have a total of 30-40grams of protein after your workout

I wouldn't suggest taking ur protein with Gatorade, better to have a slower digesting carb before workout, Gatorarde with protein after your workout is good, you need that high carb w/ protein after your meal..

Just my suggestion, If you want to burn calories, don't take gatorade pre or during, only post, but if you are trying to gain a lot of wait forget it and just drink it
