I'm getting some pop-up ads off this site, but am under the impression that those are not supposed to be contained here. just fyi.

Maybe you have a virus on your computer? Or some sort of spy/adware most likely. If you're logged into the site the only ad you'll see is a banner at the bottom of the forum (for my site and Marc's sites). If you're not logged into the site (viewing as a guest) we show Google ads and some text based ads. But... in all of the above situations... no pop-up ads are even used. I hate pop-ups... I would never show them to anyone viewing this site.

Kris Maybe you have a virus on your computer? Or some sort of spy/adware most likely. I would ask the same question. Its when I'm not logged in. And it only happens on this site, no others (popup blocker seems to be working everywhere else!)

Ok... so when you're not logged in... do this... View a thread and scan all the text in the thread. Mouse over some text if you see a double underline beneath the text (looks like a normal link... except theirs 2 lines under it instead of 1). Is that the pop-up you're referring to? Those are ad units that are only shown for guests... but their not pop-ups. They only appear when you mouse over the text. If that's not what you see can you take a screen shot and post it here? If you're using windows, click the PrtSc button on your keyboard (print screen), then open MS Paint and hit CTRL-P to paste your screen shot into MS Paint. Save it as a JPG and upload it here.

It was definitely a new window that popped up, with no menu bars or anything. My supposition is that maybe an advertiser has figured out a way to code those google ads in a manner that bypasses the no-popup restrictions. Who knows. I'll watch for it again, maybe it was just a few-time fluke - just trying to be helpful!
