Hi
My name is Tommy, I am 40 years old & I have just joined JJB Sports Gym with a friend. I would like to know If I am to old to Build Muscle ? I am overweight by a couple of stone, I am 6ft 2 so carry it quite well, But I would like 2 Gain Muscle in my arms & chest, as my chest is looking rather droopy. I had a bad accident at work in December 2000 & so I was laid up with my legs for a couple of years & put on weight. If it is possible for me 2 Gain Muscle at my age, Is there a routine any 1 can put forward for me please as I am realy Desperate. I have always wanted 2 get into Bodybuilding for years, but never had the time as work used to leave me drained. I am now Unemployed & realy keen 2 learn how 2 Build my body if possible ?
I am also dieting on meats & fish & eggs & veg through slimming World.
Many Thanks
Tommy

Tommy, to answer your question, please visit my website and see if a man who is more than 40 years old can build muscle.  If you have any questions, please feel free to PM me or post your questions here.  Just click on the link at the bottom of this post.  Good Luck.

Here's another inspirational gent (one of my personal idols): Steve Holt

I say he's a personal idol, because not only did Steve begin his bodybuilding career at an age when most people have written off trying to gain muscle, he also happens to be a vegetarian!

Yes, that's me in my avatar, and NO, I don't look like that today. That was taken back in Jan '07, and I lost most of that progress when I slacked off last year. I'm on my way back, tho, and I'm using that photo for inspiration.
