Body Fat - How Low is Too Low?

There's also some FAQ's on how to tell your body fat percentage.  The best being calipers that you can order for under $10

They measured mine at the gym today (21.5%).  Guess it's time to kick the cardio up a notch.

Don't feel bad I have one of the scales that tell your body fat.  I am 5'7" only weigh 115.5 and have 21.5 percent body fat.  Due to sitting at a desk most of the day and little to no exercise I assume

I never go by the pinch test  that stereotype that was started in the gyms in the 70s.... I go by the mirro the mirror is the reflexion on you that is the way the outsiders see you when you look in a mirror. Also do not go by TV because TV camera out 10 pounds on you (the lookfrom off TV) make you look bigger than the true you are.

I think BIA scales have their place but accumeasure calipers are best at least for me.  i only use BIA to check on whether i am properly hydrated.
If I average 11% and hit the scale and get 12-13% I know i am dehydrated; all i do is pop some carbs and get on in an hour and your under 10%.  By the way I got to this forum through Tom's program and I have now added it to my list.  Great job guys.

I think the best method of do it yourself BF measurement is the calipurs and chart from Accu-measure..Its under 20 bucks. It uses the skin fold above the hip bone, and its extremely accurate. One thing to get used to, though, is that lets say you pinch 10 mm. Lets say that equals 17% body fat for a 55 yr old guy. Well, whats hard to take is, give this test to your 30 yr old friend, and watch him pinch the same 10 mm at the same location.  And watch him grin, as for his age, that pinch equals only about 12% body fat!!  Thats whats hard to take!  Why? Why if you both have the same 'jiggle' fat factor, does he have 5% less body fat? Cause the internal organs for the 50 yr old have that much more fat around them, as does the muscle tissue itself. Its not only whats subcutaneuos, like it mostly is for the younger guys.  Not much we can do about that.  But, I guess, if were mostly intersested in Appearance, then give yourself the same amount of BF as your younger friends, if you pinch the same.
