newbie. may i have a moment of your time>. - Sunday, October 01, 2006 2:51 AM ( #1 )
hyia.
just a question please..
I've been lifting on and off for a couple of years but due to falling ill alot i've had to stop and i would lose weight... once ok, i'd lift again, get another bout of illness stop lose weight and so forth. well, wen i start up again, i do everything as best as i can, i'd eat cleanly, often and have my calories at a maintainence level, work my a$$ out 3 times a week, and i gain weight. thing is, i think i gain too much too quickly. as the last time i worked out and gained weight, i went from 110 lbs to about 122 lbs over a 2 - 3 week period! now, personally i wouldn't tink it was fat because as i said before, i ate clean and i worked out and maintain a decent calore level and most of all my clothes still fitted me and my abdominals were still visible. and on the other hand i doubt all of it was muscle as as i've read in articles that it takes a long time to gain a decent amount of weight. now what i was thinking but i just want clearifications for when i start again real soon as the doctors have found whats wrong with me and i'm taking med's to clear it up, was most of the weight gained jus glycogen or water or beginners gains? i am confused. how do i go about without gaining weight like that? or when do i actuelly start gaining the muscle once this quick weight gain is over?
i notice nothing don't change much... just my arms are more pumped and solid and bigger but i still look small, ya no! just don't understand how i could gain so much so quickly.
thanks for your time in reading and responding as this is quite long so thanks.

well you should really get some Bodyfat clipers so you can measure your bodyfat. You should expect to see some fast gains in the begining which can be due to more water in your system and also because you body reponds to training very easly. If you did everything right you should expect to have atlest 7.5 lbs of that to be muscle over the cousre of 3 weeks. but then again it could be 10 lbs of muscle. i was a little confused reading your post also, were you trying to gain weight, mentain weight and gain muscle, or lose weight?
She asked me "If it came to having sex or eating, which one would you choose?" I answered: "Could we have sex after I ate?"

i was trying to gain weight as when i'm ill i seem to lose weight. i'm planning to gain back the weight (again) and i just want some clearification on what type of weight can be expected to gain as i don't think all of it would be muscle because of how fast i gained!

--great information on gaining weight
the fact that you lose weight could be becasue of many reasones, are you taking any supps, do eat enough to mantine your new weight?
do you eat enough when your ill, or do you eat when you want?
it is noraml to drop 1-3 pounds when your ill so don't worry about that.
you should re do you cal needs as soon as you stop gaining
