new members that want to gain weight - Monday, February 21, 2005 7:37 PM
I joined DB 10 days ago today. I was your typical guy that has been the same weight for the last 6 years. Eating what ever I want and never gaining an ounce of weight. I tried many many weight gainers over a long period of time and still nothing. Training for two months from time to time and then getting lazy and stopping for a couple of months but was never serious about it. This web sight is by far the best information you can get about weightlifting, no one is sugar coating anything, just giving personal information that has worked for them. After joining and reading many of the links I found that I was doing everything wrong, from my training to my diet. Actually I never had a diet which was one of the big reasons I never gained any weight. Many people are posting questions that have all ready been asked. It many be hard to find them but it is a lot easier to look to see if you can find them. This way you do not have to wait a couple days for someone to post to your personal questions. If you have a question that you can not find on a previous post then defiantly post it. I have received and read a lot of excellent information that has totally changed the way I train and really made me realize how important a good diet really is. So far I have gained 2 pounds and seeing excellent improvement in definition and strength. Now is 2 pounds a lot, to most people no. But I have not been +2 pounds to my frame for 5 to 6 years. To me that is a lot. But I had to do a lot to achieve this. Get a good mind set, keep track of what you are eating and train correctly. All three of those items are very general and you are going to have to take the time and read to get all the details. All in all do it for your self and when you start seeing improvements talk about them, post them. People on this sight are excellent and do wonders for keeping your motivation going. Work hard and you can do it.

And I can’t post this without saying thanks to all the help us new bodybuilders out. Thanks for the time.

Thanks for posting that, kloc- That's what we're here for. And yes, we do get a lot of people asking the same questions here- It can get frustrating, but at the same time, I remember when I first started hanging around asking those same questions, and people were patient with me- It's why I still hang around and answer those same questions. It's scary how much misinformation is out there, and it's nice to know there's a place like DB to cut through the crap.

Don’t get me wrong what so ever. I do not get frustrated by it at all. I posted that for the new members telling them that they may be able to get their answers faster by searching for the posts that are all ready out there. I hope I did not come off the wrong way.

No, not at all- I was just saying that I know what you're talking about. Seeing the same questions over and over can be a pain, but then you remember that we've all been there at some point, looking for help. The admins and mods here have tried to make the format of this site beginner friendly- The beginners start here forum, very helpful posts stuck to the top of the right forums, etc- But naturally, you still get people who miss all that stuff and just post questions. They still get answered, and that's a great thing.
You definitely didn't come off the wrong way.
