new to weight gain and need advice - Sunday, June 29, 2008 6:58 AM ( #1 )
hello, i am trying to learn ways to get a nice amount of weight on my body but dont really know how. first off, I am 21 years old and im 5'9 and weigh 122 pounds (sigh). I want my target weight to be like 150-160. I dont really have that much of a time frame for getting there. I read post here and reviews and a couple of other things but i need more opinions on the subject.

I really dont know much about dieting (but will be looking up a lot of stuff) and I dont know the right types of food to eat to gain mass. In addition to that, im a student on somewhat of a budget so i can't really afford to go crazy with buying a whole lot of food. So I just wanna know some cost effective ways to build an effective eatting habit to gain weight. I also have seen post about eating 4-5 meals a day which is what i wish i could do, but I work almost everyday and dont think i have time to eat that much. Plus, Im getting the impression that you need to eat big meals 4-5 times a day, and like I said before, my funds cant really support that type of eatting. So do you guys have any suggestions on what i can do to fix this?

also i wanna do some dumbbell and free weight training but dont really know how to do the exercise. Could guide me to a chart that shows most exercisethat give a nice to full body work out?

Lastly, I've been looking at weight gaining shakes and came to see this one: Weight Gainer 2200 Gold - Chocolate. Is this a good product?

Thanks in advance

Give it a shot for 6 months, and I guarantee you will get bigger, stronger, and more muscular then you ever could imagine:

It's a 3-day a week, full-body routine:

Workout A:
Squats - 3 x 5
Standing overhead barbell press - 3 x 5
Deadlift - 1 x 5
chin-ups (palms facing towards you) - 2 x as many as you can do
3 sets of any ab exercise

Workout B:
Squats - 3 x 5
Barbell bench press - 3 x 5
Power clean - 1 x 5
Pull-ups (palms facing away from you you) - 2 x as many as you can do
3 sets of any ab exercise

Alternate between workouts A and B, lifting 3 non-consecutive days a week.

That's it, now follow these instructions:

1.) Do not mess with the program.  Do not add or remove any exercises, sets or reps.

2.) Do not mess with the program.

3.) Start out light with all exercises, and add small amounts of weight every single workout.  Make sure that the first time you do this workout, it is not that hard.  Believe me, it will get EXTREMELY HARD, because you will constantly be adding weight every single workout.  Add weight every single workout to every single lift for as long as it is physically possible for you.

4.) Make sure you do warm-up sets for each exercise.  For example if your working weight for squats for the day is 135 lbs., do maybe 3 or 4 warm-ups sets (1 set with the bar, 1 set with 65 lbs., 1 set with 105 lbs.  This is known as "ramping warm-up sets".)  then do the working sets.  When the weight gets heavy, warm-up sets are crucial for your protection.

5.) Eat lots of good food, drink lots of milk, and get lots of rest.

6.) Do not mess with the program.

I'm sure that'll definitely help you increase.

I'm not so good on dieting help, but stick to that program even though it seems easy. You're supposed to eat 5-6. You can probably make protein bars, and if you're gonna work daily, you'll need to pack some good food and a weight gainer will probably be good.

Eating actually isn't that expensive if you buy in bulk.

By the way, I don't understand why you wouldn't have much time, haha.

And read this as well for other programs:

for dieting, try to cut out junk food, have plenty of foods like pastas, rice, chicken and tuna, plus some whey protien shakes for in between meals, this should help your muscles grow, remember, they wont grow if you dont feed it the correct fuel, just like a diesel engine, it wont work if you put unleaded in. The dieting is the key to gaining weight, its a real pain in the ass but if you're really determined then its sometihng you should go for.

Also you could try a course of creatine for a month - 3 months, the drink version are much better, faster and more effective than the capsule versions.

good luck
