new routine order? - Tuesday, December 30, 2008 12:37 PM ( #1 )
hey been lifting a year and a half now , closer to two actually , always done my routines with these muscles together

M - CHEST / TRIS
T- ABS
W- BACK / BIS
T- OFF
F- SHOULDERS /TRAPS
S- OFF
S- OFF

one time i did switch for a few weeks to doing bi/tris together and chest back together but after a month or so stopped cuz i was advised that it was too much for one day .

i just took a week off  , something i dont do often to heal up before i started a new routine , unfortunetly ive been sick that whole week with a cold , havent had one in years , dunno how much healing my body did while sick.

started back at the gym yestarday switched it up to this

M- CHEST / SHOULDERS
T- ABS
W- BACK
T-LEGS     < MAYBE  TAKE A DAY OFF IN BETWEEN LEGS AND ARMS ?
F- ARMS
S- OFF
S-OFF
anyway im just wondering if doing chest and shoulders on the same day is too much i  have fairly week shoulders , my left on is screwed up , they always pop and find them hurting when doing exercises that dont even hit them , so my goal with this routine is to put on some massive poundage especially on my shoulders ,, diets in check as of today... just worried about routine , when i did it yestarday , my shoulders were so weak after chest i could barely get 8 reps with 45lbs dbs. even with a spotter. normally i can get around 6-10 with 55lbs .  i wanna get up to 75lbs in a few months.  im hoping that maybe it didnt go as well because i wa s still alittle bit sick . but it all just felt like crap so ...... any advice?... i know ur suppost to go out of ur comfort zone so maybe i should stick with it?

It isn't too much to do chest and shoulders on the same day, your delts get worked when benching so that is where they should be.  I wouldn't have a separate arm day, do your tris with chest and shoulders and do bis with your back like you were.  Do abs with your legs when your core gets worked most (squatting variations).

so like this:

m- chest/shoulders/tris
t- off
w- back/bis
th- off
f- Legs/abs/hip/groin
sat and sun- off

This gives you ample resting time.  Don't worry about your shoulders feeling weaker after bench, you might have to go a little lighter at first but you will build back up.  In your head you shouldn't be thinking that you are getting weaker on your first set of shoulders, you have to view your first direct shoulder exercise as your second exercise for shoulders, that should make you feel better about the fact that it is lighter weight.

Your new routine is pretty much what I do except I put shoulders on its own day.

M - Arms
T - Back
W - Chest
T - Legs
F - Shoulders
S - Off
S - Usually start over again so my days off range and it seems to do the trick for me when I played Rugby and it seems to do the same for me now even though I don't play anymore.

Engival, you are working your arms on the first 3 days of the week with no break, that doesn't seem optimal.

It's worked well for me cause I've been a customed to that type all my life. Growing up on a farm I had to constantly haul bags of onions, watermelons and bails of hay. I know it sounds stupid but my body hasn't had a problem with it as of yet

so far my new routine has gone quite crappy , im still alittle sick .. and now  the reason i almost quit lifting 2 years ago when i started has happened again , that being that when i use exercises that hit one muscle for example back , i dont feel it in my back nor do i get a pump , i did 3 exercises today that all were mainly lat  but hit bis and rear delt as most back things do but thats the only place i felt it!!! i got no lat pump , i only felt tired , i even felt it in my front delts!!! whats with that i cant stand it , 2 years i try soooo hard and its like my body is so messed , do something for my back and my front delts hurt , do chest and front delts hurt  and atleast that one hits front delts........ so what is with my body? i swear anything i do doesnt feel right and people say my form is proper , i get no pump for back or shoulders whenever i do them , i just get fatigued in the muscle , this happen to anyone?
