a good power-lifting routine will add a solid foundation of mass to your bones. try to find one that goes thru all the phases of periodization. a good beginners routine i've found is KaPower in the June '03 issue of Flex magazine. you might be able to get it off the website. either that or post a thread in the exercise section of this forum. also, 20 lbs is a lot of f*cking muscle so be patient. as long as you eat more calories than you burn a day you will gain weight. the n-large will help you with that.

to gain weight, you have to take in more calories than you burn. if you are not gaining weight, you are not eating enough. weight gainers are mainly just tubs of sugar. great for pwo, not so great elsewhere. be sure to stress the big, basic movements: squats, deadlifts, presses, rows, chins, dips, cleans, etc

Yeah... I'm still trying to figure that one out. I looked at my weight gainer. It's a lot of sugar. Simple sugars--> fat. Not good. I could probably better myself by just adding in a complex carb 2x a day then taking a gainer.

what many of us started doing a couple of years ago was to make our own gainers. we'd grind up some oats, add either whey or milk, then add olive oil, flax oil or natty pb. heck, some just take milk and add milk powder and olive oil.

Which is a better weight gainer considering the sources come from complex carbs (oats) and protein and good essential fatty acids rather then some protein and then a bunch of carbs that are simple sugars. Your suggestion is pretty cool. Did it taste alright?

it tasted ok after i added some splenda to it, LOL i used commercial gainers for years. my list includes joe weiders dynamic weight gainer, mega mass 2000, muscle maxx, heavyweight gainer 900 and gnc pro performance 2200. sometimes i would drink 2-3 a day. they helped me go from 125 5% bodyfat to 180 10% bodyfat years ago. but now i know that all that sugar is not good for you. what is it, like 4 grams of sugar is equal to 1 tsp, i think? and there i was ingesting 50-80 grams of sugar 2-3 times a day!!!!!!!!!!!!!! plus, they didnt really fill me up. sugar and whey absorb fast. the oats will digest more slowly plus you get the added fiber
