hi! this is the response to the question asked in my previous post ('help newbie...' , http://www.discussbodybuilding.com/help_newbie%25%25%25/m_30971/tm.htm) about what's my daily food intake (for some reason i can't reply to the messages on this board? So I am writing a new thread). Anyhoo, here it goes..

In the morning (around 9) i take one severing of (3 scoops) of Mega Mass (weight gainer). One serving contains 600 calories, 89g carbs and 51g protein. After an hour or 2 i either have 2 boiled eggs or 3 slices of toasted bread with butter with one glass of milk and then i am off to school. At school i generally have either 2 slices of veggie pizzas or one beef hotdog with drink in the afternoon around 2-3. Later around 6-7 i workout for an hour approximately (sometime longer). After workout i either eat my veggie sandwich i packed from home or veggie pizza the days i don’t have my lunch and on tuesdays i go for 7-8 chicken wings at my school pub. When i get home around 11 i eat me daily regular food (East Indian), curry, 3 nans (a form of bread. Each contains about 200 calories) with yogurt. and i repeat this cycle everyday. Hope this this gives an idea of nutrition (quantity and quality wise) I am consuming daily. My target is to get around 3000 calories everyday. I’m trying to add another serving(total of 2) of Mega Mss in my diet after workout but due my current daily schedule and my appetite (sometimes i have t force food down in me..lol) i finding it difficult.

P.S. I’m 5'11 and weigh 137 lbs.

From what I read I doubt your eating enough protein. You seem to eat tons of carbs but are way under on good clean protein. Get an affordable whey protein (like on's whey or whatever), get a plastic shaker add a shake somewhere before workout and immediately afterwards. I use water and a spoon at work to make my shake, its easy and doable. You'll want about 1.5 grams of protein per body weight. Good luck.

Let me ask ya....

Do you know how many calories you need a day?

Is it important to you to get the bulking results you want?

Real food is superior but supps have a place.

See supps are predigested...so they are basically nutrients that go zoom into the system...and there are additives in supps that...well..some other time...Smile

So, to plan what to eat, or even to get a good idea of what you should eat to gain the bulk you want,I assume mostly muscle...you should:
  • Determine your Maintenance calories
  • Add 500 calories to that if you want growth
  • Determine the right mix of carbs, protein and fat for your unique body chemistry, metabolism, and digestion.
  • Design a menu plan (using software for speedy adjusting) around this information, with healthy food choices to fill out your meals...you can add supps to fill gaps and make it easier if you need to/want to
  • Determine your body fat % and keep track of it weekly or tri-weekly so you know what your body is doing (is that 5 pounds of fat or muscle you just put on!?)
  • Follow your menu plan (you can exchange foods around and still get just the rigt foods!)
  • Train smart and intensley
  • Make changes as needed to keep in a calorie surplus and keep the training just intense enough to maintain growth.

If you just want to cross the fingers and cram food down, cool...just say so and we'll thow out some bulking food lists.Smile
