Milks power level is clearly over 9,000... anyway taking a step outside of the gaming world A gallon of whole milk has about 2,562 calories in it...while most people wouldnt drink a whole gallon a day (besides me :P) Creation is correct in that even drinking a half gallon, which is very easy to do...is a good chunk of calories for the day. Mix it in with your protein shakes, pour a few glasses a day. Its definitely calorie packed. TBH I dont ever believe anyone who claims they cant gain. Something is always going on, they either arent eating enough and know they arent and lie hoping to find another answer. Or they arent eating enough and have no idea it isnt enough. Its different for some people, some just have to eat a **** load to gain...The trick is reaching that level and surpassing it and putting on the weight.

Good thing someone brought this up! I think whole milk is great for fitness in general, scientists don't call it "Nature's perfect food" for no reason.

Well let me be my usual contrarian self and piss all over this absolutely insane advice. Like most of you, I accept no excuses when it comes to claims of "I can't gain weight", but I draw the line at advising people to chug a gallon of milk a day. I've gained over 30 pounds of muscle without a DROP of the stuff. Fact is, unless we're talking about organic, which would bankrupt anyone trying to guzzle a gallon a day, you're basically talking about 2,336 calories, 48% of which come from fat. From this one food source alone, that's 80 grams of saturated fat -imagine chowing down on a quarter-pounder sized slab of lard. Not to mention all the pus, antibiotics, bovine growth hormone, and estrogen you're getting along with it. A gallon of milk? Knock yourself out. I'll take a rain check.

I drink a quart of raw milk a day, a whole gallon is definitely too much. And it is a bankrupting. But luckily for me I pay into a co-op, so I can get all the milk I want or can drink for a flat monthly fee. A gallon costs $7 from them. They are a certified organic farm. Because the farm is certified organic and the cows are grass-fed, there are no antibiotics or growth hormones used. The pasteurized and homogenized crap you get from the supermarket kills my stomach and digestive system. Especially whole milk, because I won't drink any other type of milk. Raw milk is nothing short of heaven-sent. The enzymes, vitamins, minerals, good bacteria, and omega-3s present in raw milk are what make it great and allows me to tolerate it.

Veg, I'm averaging 1/2 gallon of whole milk a day. Still too much? Probably depends on rest of diet, I know.

veggeep Perchance I shall give it a whirl. Awesome, www.realmilk.com is a great site where you can find locations of farmers who sell raw milk near you. If you are going to go with the raw milk, definitely look for a certified-organic farm. I don't know the laws in Virginia, but in Pennsy it's illegal to sell raw milk in supermarkets, etc. So, I have to go straight to the farm to get it. Like I said in my previous post, it's $7 per gallon. I drink a lot of milk, so it made more sense for me to buy in to my local (which is actually 45 minutes away since only 2 farms in my entire county are allowed to sell raw milk) farm's cow share. It ends up being cheaper to buy into the cow share than buy a gallon every few days.

I've been telling people how I dislike it since I came here. Finally, someone that agrees with me. I even spent about an hour posting a math equation on how the caloric ratio is terrible on it anyway.

To answer your question a half a gallon of milk is cool. I wouldn't make it a staple, but if you enjoy milk then go for it.

I dont really think anyone is saying you have to go out and drink a gallon a day. I think the overall point that were trying to get across is that People whining about hard gaining can find a very easy and simple fix with milk. 1/4 - 1/2 a day is a good chunk of daily calories right there. While yes you can accomplish this eating/drinking other things...this is easy and effective. Its nutritional ratio is great for bulking, and I really dont see what your problem is with it. So it has fat, big deal. I have been drinking a gallon a day since the start of the 20 rep program, and other then bloating from drinking so damn much occasionally, I have absolutely nothing bad to say about it. Will I drink as much when I get off? hell no, but I still think milk is a great resource for anyone trying to put on mass. veggeep Well let me be my usual contrarian self and piss all over this absolutely insane advice. I think hardgainer is so overused. People join the other board I go to all-the-time asking about supplements that will help them gain weight. They look for a reason not to eat a lot of the right foods and think there is some type of alternate method (supplement) that will get results for them. Needless to say I believe it's a shame the supplement section on pretty much all forums have more threads than any other board. Should creatine be more popular than squats and chicken? No way.

I agree with you here MVP....however,there are hardgainers out there, that do eat plenty....and still can't gain. Myself,I have a hard time keeping weight on....when my dad passed away in august I lost over 15 pounds in a little over a week. Hell I've been trying to get to 200 pounds for the past 5 years.....the closest I've ever gotten was 196....with the aid of MDROL....HaHJa...and I drink pretty close to a gallon of milk every day and eat 6 meals plus protein shakes. I know for some the hardgainer tag is an easy excuse....but for those like me...it's a curse. My wife hates me ...cause I eat like a horse...24/7....never gain a pound!!!!!
