I was doing about 30 minutes of Elliptical or stairmaster following by 10 minutes of HIIT on the treadmill. I'm not sure if I'm even doing the HIIT right. Is there a link or something that has a program for that. Maybe that would motivate me if I read up on it. Yesterday I totally cut out first 30 minutes cause I just wasn't in the mood.

Yesterday was my first bulking workout after a week off from the gym. I weighed myself this morning. 172 lbs. I'm shooting to get to 190.

Yesterday's workout was good. Although I felt a little bit of pain in my upper chest area where it meets my shoulder. That kinda distracted my from having the best possible workout. I might have to rest my chest/shoulders if this pain lingers around. Yesterday's workout went as follows

Max-OT

Chest:
Flat Bench - Max working weight - 225
Incline Dumbells - Max working weight - 95's
Dips - Max working weight - 55lbs weight added
Incline machine press - ?

Abs:
Weight crunches - 60 lbs
Another machine I don't know the name of

I couldn't really get much sleep last night which upset me cause I need alot of rest for maximum growth, hopefully it was just because I woke up late Sunday morning. Tonight I should be able to get a good nights sleep.

Yesterday's workout

Back:

Reverse grip pull downs 3 sets - 160 working weight
Close grip pulls 2sets - 140 working weight
T-Bar Rows 2 sets - 105 working weight
close grip cable rows 2 sets - 140 working weight

Hamstrings:

Hamstring curl: 140 working weight 4 sets
Plate loaded hamstring curl: 55lbs. 2 sets

I had a headache and I certainly wasn't feeling 100% going into this workout. It wasn't bad considering how I felt when I got to the gym. I also went about 5 minutes over time. I still have room for improvement.

Update:

I've completed 4 weeks of Max-OT with about a 3500 calorie diet. I've put on about 6 pounds. I'm current 178.2

I feel like it's mostly muscle except for a of course a little fat in the dreaded abdomen. Overall I've added an average of 10 pounds on all my lifts so far and I'm liking the progress. I'm looking to gain another 12 pounds by end of August.

Thanks...here is another update

Current weight: 181.5

I've been feeling really strong lately....My squat working weight is up to 275 (about 5 reps)

My Incline bench is 225 for 5 reps which is a new record for me which I did yesterday. I haven't done flat bench for a few weeks but my guess is it went up since the last time.

I'm looking to get back into doing deadlifts again soon.

Current weight: approx 183

Yesterday I was able to squat 285 for about 5 reps.....

My incline bench is 235 (4-5 reps)

I was almost able to get 275 up on flat bench for a rep but I needed a slight spot to finish but the guy said it was all me....However I don't count it till I can push it up without struggling....

Current weight 184.2

Bench press: 250x5
Squat: 285x5

I'm taking a week off on wednesday to go on vacation. This comes at the perfect time cause it's been 9 weeks since my last week off. This will mark the 1/2 way point of bulking and so far I've gained 12 pounds and significant gains on most body parts. The only area I can't seem to improve on is my back :( I haven't been deadlifting because my lower back just isn't up to it. But overall I'm happy with the progress

Current weight 187.0

Bench press: 255x4
Squat: Same as above I think

Strength gains are slowing down so I'm increasing my rep range from 4-6 to 6-8 to switch things up for a bit.

My back is bothering me quite a bit however lately, and I still cannot deadlift.

I'm going to see a Message Therapist at my gym today to try and kick this lower back problem. I've also cut back going to the gym to about 3 times a week to try and get more rest.
I've been stretching alot during the day (even at my desk at work) and applying heat packs both during the day and at night.

Wow, it's been a while since I've made a post on my current status...

Well, I'm currently about 184 pounds, I was up to 190 at one point and right now my main focus is getting rid of my lower back problems. My current goals are to totally re-hab my back and lose another 4 pounds. I've been going to the massage therapist twice a month and wednesday I'm going to try out a chriopractor. I've slowly been getting better. At the gym I've been doing light cardio and moderate lifting (6-8 reps, about 50% of the time to failure). I've avoided any exercise that would possibly hurt my back, including heavy dumbell presses because just picking up the weights could run a risk of hurting my back.

My main motivation is to get my back completely better so that in a month or two I can begin a fresh bulking cycle.
