Yes, it wasn't an easy choice, and I may yet change it back, everyone knows me as the squirrel....

Energy is better now, it seemed to improve after the first couple of weeks. I'm getting used to eating less too, it seems like my stomach has shrunk, because I seem to feel full with a lot less food.

I'm relieved that my lifts are still improving, though not nearly as fast as during my "eat everything I see" phase. Some days are better than others, 3 weeks down, 12 to go. I do seem to be on track number-wise though, I'm down about 3 lbs of fat after 3 weeks, plus a couple pounds of water weight that comes and goes.

I've switched from doing cardio at the beginning to doing it at the end. It's interesting, different.

Weight loss is slowing, but I think that's because I'm not dropping water weight anymore. Lifts are still going up, slowly. I find I'm eating more on the weekends than during the week, but I'm also doing better workouts on the weekend because I have more time.

My chest-strap heart-rate monitor wasn't working on Friday, I remoistened the strap like 4 times, then I realized the reason it wasn't working was because it was TOO LOOSE and it wasn't getting good skin contact. So I tightened it up by a couple of inches. I take this as a good sign!

(The chest strap doesn't go OVER my chest, it goes just below it on my trunk, so it's a"fat girth" not a "muscle girth")

I have decided that my bodyfat scale is calibrated for middle-aged fat women or something. Yes, I entered my height, my gender, and my age, but it still reads between 24.5% and 25.5%. BAH!

My waist is just under 36" now, I'm starting to see a bit more abdominal definition. My love handles are smaller. As of this morning I was down to 193 lbs. The scale's not telling me what I want to know, of course. I've continued to lift as before and make some strength progress, albeit slower. Most of the fat I want to lose is the deep abdominal type, it's going to be harder to see the difference, but it's a big step up health-wise.

I am going to have to go by the tape measure and the eyeball test I guess, they seem to be demonstrating the progress I despreately hope I really am making better than my magic scale. Maybe after another month the scale will admit that I'm leaner....grrrrr.

I started taking my ephedra pills today. I know, once they're gone I won't be able to get any more, but they are a big help.

Calipers, that seems to be the best method, these BF scales seem to be great for others, but folks trying to add large amounts of muscle mass don't seem to register correctly on these things.

Calipers consistently UNDERRATE my bodyfat. One time in college the calipers said 8% bodyfat, while the tank said 20%. I think my fat is distributed differently from a "normal" person's or something.

How many points? And how many times did they measure? It should be done BEFORE any exercise, 7 points, each spot measured 3 times and averaged.

I've been measured many times, sometimes with 3 points, sometimes with 7, multiple times over the years. Consistently, the calipers come out at 8-10%, while the dunk tank and electrical tests come out at 20-25%. I suppose I can try it again, but I pretty much came to the conclusion that the calipers are under measuring, and the electrical tests are over measuring, and the dunk tank was probably the most accurate. I am assuming that my doctor's electrical test is accurate, we'll see what it says when I go in to see him in May.

One thing I notice is I just don't store subcutaneous fat in my belly. It seems like I carry it on my upper back, and in the deep abdominal form. My brother seems to store fat inside his muscles (lucky him). In any case, my cutting program seems to be working, I'm getting leaner without dropping muscle mass, and I guess that's more important than my exact measurments.

Yes, I am a fairly odd parent Smile

My in-laws are visiting, my man's mother, sister, and two nieces. We haven't made it to the gym in over a week, and we both feel crappy.

We clearly have a gym addiction now. Our bodies and brains don't work "normally" now unless we get some regular exercise. Then again, maybe no one's body or brain works right without exercise, it's just most people don't know the difference becasue they haven't exercised regularly in ages.

Anyway, I have noticed that I AM looking leaner. It seems like when you lose bodyfat there's a "front line" that moves up your legs, and my "front line" seems to be above my hips now. So I'm almost up to week 6 of cutting, and even though the last couple of weeks haven't been "on plan", I'm seeing the results I want.

I've also noticed that since I stopped working out, my appetite is really LOW. It'll be dinner time and I'll feel like I should eat something, but not because I'm hungry, just because I feel like I'm suppoed to be eating. I guess that's a good thing, if I kept eating like I was when I was working out, I'd be packing on the lard.

In-laws gone *whew*

I'm doing cardio at lunchtime now, 35 mins, 500 cal. The Gold's gym near my work doesn't have elliptical machines with arm handles though, so I can't burn calories as fast or get my heart rate up as easily. Oh well. My appetite has improved since I started working out again at least.

I'm trying to go in the evenings for my normal lifting, but I'm clearly pushing myself a bit hard. My energy level is low again, like it was at the start of the cutting phase, and my remaining Ephedra pills are really helpful once in a while.

As of this morning, I was 191.8 lbs. The bodyfat scale is now saying 24.4%, but considering that's the lowest reading I've ever gotten off the darn thing, I'll take it as a good sign. I figure I am actually down about 6 lbs of fat and 2 lbs of water, and am between 13% and 17% bodyfat. 6 weeks down.... 9 weeks to go....

It's a soft tissue injury he said, I guess that means it's not the bone and it's not the cartilage? Anyway, I'm supposed to keep taking Avil 3 times a day and keep it iced. If that doesn't help in an other wek or so I'm supposed to call him back and he'll send me to a specialist.

So I am taking Advil 3 times a day, and I started taking Chronadin and Glucosamine. God I feel old now!

Wait, you have a torn cuff, and you are still benching?

I couldn't move my arm.

It turned out to be a soft tissue injury, not a torn cuff, thankfully.

*sigh* I seem to be stuck at 190.8 pounds (first thing in the morning, minimum weight). I know what I need to do....more cardio!

Still, I'm mighty pleased with how I'm looking Smile
