big mike, you leg press 950lbs? ....i do belive you given your height and weight, but damn thats a ****ing heavy weight LOL, and there was me being impressed with my novice friend who comes to the gym with me who nearly hits 400lbs, that amount of weight i find amazing to watch him lift has suddenly made me realise how weak he is in comparison LOL.

i wear 10.5... In regards to Leg press, there was some guy trying to show off or something with 900lbs, unless this is just how he always works out, he was doing half way down and grunting up, he's ok size, but 900lbs? nah, he should drop it and go to chest

Thats kind of like doing bench press and lowering the bar 6 inches from your chest...youre right, he should lower the weight and go down to the chest and lift up, i always did that, i max out at 230-250lbs ish, have only maxxed out twice on leg press, dont really try it much, my friend is always trying to hit morre than 400lbs though lol

i used to do legpress as my big mass builder, but since i dieted, and then added squats first legpress got significantly weaker, it used to be around 320, now 180 or so

you train on 180?! FINALLY! ive found an exercise where im not the weakest here at! whoop whoop! LOL squats are very hard exercises, they take a lot of energy out of me, i prefer leg press, but i make sure to squat enough to build. Little question, when i leg press i feel burning on the front of my legs(front thigh), my friend feels burning on the back (the main muscle of the thigh) of his legs, which one is normal? EDIT:random...but i have a sudden craving for tuna....*goes off to kitchen*

Well my max is 950. All those on my signature are maxes, when somebody really askes me how much i leg press i say 805. And yes its very heavy, i wear knees braces and i scream my nuts off when i max. I reason i scream in my mind is because wtf happens if i dont put that weight up? nobody i know can put up 950 pounds, its pretty hard to stop somebody on it, you need like 5 guys. There is this trainer who is at my gym and he does near to 1300 pounds. The whole bottom and top rack is filled on, i think soon he is gunna start adding people on to it, when all the weight is racked on.

As for the front of the thigh ive never heard of it, but i guess it def is possible. Just make sure your legs are wide enough and you go down all the way until you cannot anymore. And where you feet go, just make sure on the curve you feet arent too high. Thats why your friend feels to much pain in his hamstring. Just make sure about 3-5 inches are on the curve. And i think that you have your legs too low, and soon enough that will effect your knees. so get them alittle higher and youll be fine.

My legs are usually normal standing position far apart maybe a bit wider, i make my legs go down til they touch my chest, im not sure what you mean by curve...and i dont want knee trouble I'll just do the exercise with a little less weight, find a way of it burning my hamstring like its mean't to, and go from there thanks for the info

The curve where you put your feet? maybe your press doesnt have it, but alot of times people get hurt because their feet arent high/low enough on that curve. So i just thought that, that might be your problem. As yor the width, i usually keep them 2 or so inches wider than my shoulder, but that wont make too much of a difference.

hmmm let me find a pic of the one at my gym http://away.com/images/outside/200405/leg_press.gif It has 1 bar sticking vertical right above where you lift to put weight, and two bars coming out from the sides horizontally for more weight. I have noticed adding weight to the sides makes it more difficult, the machine is quite tall and its hard sticking the 40lbs weights on there (even worse getting them off as the bar is vertical, and its not so much the weight, its getting it off the frickin bar lol) so one time put them on the sides to make things easier for myself...and found it harder than when its directly above
