So I have started to supplement with creatine and I bought a pure creatine form. I am mixing with grape juice....but the stuff just settles out at the bottom. Is this the same with all brands/ forms? Any ideas??

No it all settles at the bottom, but i have found some juices to dissovle it a little quicker. I cannot get it to dissolve in water, i can shake a water bottle all day and it wont breakdown. OJ seems to break it down quicker. I also mix it with Sobe energy and it breaks down good as well. But i still have to shake it like crazy for a few minutes. It might have something to do with the acids in the drinks but thats just a guess.

Hi, I'm new here, but here are my 98 cents worth...

I used a product from Met-RX that is "Micronized Creatine". It is basically like powdered sugar and "dissolves" a lot better in whatever you mix it with. I use the quotes, because I don't think that Creatine actually dissolves but is rather a suspension. It doesn't matter how much you stir or shake it, if you let it sit, it will settle to the bottom. The creatine particles are just temporarily suspended in the mixture. The micronized particles are smaller and take longer to settle out so it seems to work better.

I am currently using a GNC brand creatine but hate the silt at the bottom. I think I will go back to the other next time...

It did. Mine doesn't dissolve either. But it mixes well enough. I agree that creatine doesn't actually dissolve. And it will settle to the bottom. Which is why I mix it right when I need it.. stir it around and drink it immediately.

Thanks for the replys. I've only been mixing with a cup of juice, but it seems to stay in suspension a little longer if I use more..but makes it harder to slam back.
** What do you guys think of mixing it with my protein shake post work out?

You could.. although mostly what I've seen is spike the insulin.. take the creatine.. wait.. then take your protein shake...

But I have heard of mixing it in. And there would be a fair amount of sugar and stuff in some protein shakes. Interesting question.

Personally, I take the creatine. Then 15 minutes later I take my protein shake. But I've thrown in creatine a few times.. no doubts.

I use to put eas betagen and cytovol in with my protien shakes. I would take a serving or 2 of the betagen before workout and then add a serving along with the cytovol in the shake.

I tried mixing it in water, then grape juice and it just does not want to dissolve, and the foam after all the shaking with grape juice just tastes plain bad and a lot of creatine ends up in the foam. I've been mixing it in one of my protein shakes now and thats not to bad. There's nothing on the label that says take it separately or not to mix it in so I don't see the harm in it.

It's a thought of mine, I haven't real used creatine, but stir it into hot water then let it cool in the fridge for when you want to drink it. That might help.

Except creatine in liquid is unstable.. so.. I wouldn't let it sit.

Creatine doesn't really dissolve anyway. Just mix it with your dextrose and drink up. There will be particles that won't be dissolved. That's norm.

If you mix it with dextrose and kool-aid for flavoring, you are not only getting a good tasting drink but there's no foam to contend with. I noticed the foam effect on other drinks and seems like the creatine does end up in there. Then you end up drinking the foam.

So it's the delivery method that needs adjustment.

NO. I'm saying find a delivery method that doesn't make the foam so the creatine gets stuck in there. My V12 batch was doing that to me. My dextrose home-made method is not. Works great. No residue left over. No foam.

I'd stir the creatine in your grape juice if you want rather then shake it up and make foam as it's not going to dissolve anyway.

I'm going to read up on creatine, I don't know much about it... But it iterests me, I have heard lots about it being good bad blah blah. RESEARCH, yahoo!

Well thats why I'm mixing mine with the Protein Shake. You don't get to much foam action.
