I used to know this kid back in HS who apperaed to be just like all the other guys, except his bones where ....ing huge. His rists, hands, shoulder blades..ect where all huge, and that I think contributed to his incredible strenght. He was 16 when he bench pressed 285 8 times. Given the fact that this was the first time he ever did BP, this looked unreal, but I was there, saw it with my own 2 eyes! This was the first and last time that i've ever met anybody that strong. So what cannon is claiming is possible, but is very...very rare, I'm talking one in 100,000 if not in a million. Thumbnail Image

I've seen big guys hell theres some 6'5" 300lbs guy at my college (who on more inspection is an utter ****...and camp) and i have trouble imagining him benching 225 22 times, my uncle at 6'7" who was a heavily trained cop i would have trouble thinking he could bench 225 22 times and thats saying something considering he has to squeeze through ****ing doorframes his build is so broad. Its not the weight in general its the number of reps, my uncle and that college guy i could see lifting 225lbs DAMN easily, but after a few reps the weight gets heavier, seriously. quote:

I did mention some guy at college who was the toughest, apart from the 6'5 guy now, that guy has seriously huge bones, but i dont see him lifting them kind of weights.

ORIGINAL: MMZ71 I dont think you can powerclean 225 16 times or how many it was. That is putting your max at like 380 on cleans? Thats a huge number for a high school kid. Every year my high school goes to a strength meet at ben davis in indianapolis. There was a kid there with his team that maxed out at 425. The leading guy on bench was around 450, and squat was crazy. So I believe this kid, why would he lie?

I totally agree. Anything can happen these days. Have u seen the thing on the discovery channel about the kid with very dense muscles or some crap. He can bench 2x his body weight and hes like 9. He'll be doin 450 his freshman year of high school....

In my high school ( i'm a freshman) we had to do as many reps as we could with 135. Depending on how many reps we did with that we either raised our weight or lowered it. Say if you did 15 reps you would bench 150, or if you did 20 reps 180 or something like that. There is a sophmore in my geometry class and he can bench 350. though he did use roids and admited to it.

ORIGINAL: Nic A good football players does not need to bench a lot, he needs to be quick, powerful, strong and be able to have some endurance...no need to clean and bench that much ! Tell Larry Allan that from the Dallas Cowboys. He benches 700 pounds and he has been a Pro-Bowl player numerous times. I just turned 19 years old and bench 225 about 24 times but it is going up every month. I dont think it is unbelieveable that a 17 year old that big could be able to put it up that many times, seems very realistic IMO.

most definately realistic i think. especially given the fact that i mean, CMON hes almost 300lbs!! he SHOULD be able to bench at least that, its not even close to his own bodyweight. only argument i see against this is that seeing how he is that heavy, id imagine his muscular endurance to be somewhat in question. over 20 reps of anything is alot if your not used to going that high.

and also, 225 does seem kind of high for highschool football players. usually its always 185 but it might be different if testing is based on the position you play.
