Hey pennsylvania jock That would mean I would have to bench 80.71 lbs as many times as possible, which would probably be like 50 times. LOL I have done 135lbs 25 times for warm up before, so that would be a cake walk I would guess.

That's exactly what I'm trying to say. All those guys making the teams are not strong for their weight. They have lots of fat. It's just a thing that's been bothering me a lot recently, because I don't weigh a lot, but I'm stronger than most guys in my school by weight. The coaches are just looking for guys who weigh a lot. I just think football should be about strength and speed...not how much you weigh. If it keeps going like this, we should just call it sumo-ball. The people out there will be guys the size of sumo wrestlers.

Yeah, I agree. I wish i played football when i was younger. I would have played receiver or something, maybe defensive end. I am fast, quick and strong and don't forget full of aggression lol.

That's exactly what I am, and I play defensive end. I'm the fastest lineman on the team, and every other lineman weighs at least 40lbs more than me. I mean, getting 18 sacks in 8 games has to prove something along the lines of "weight doesn't matter in football."

All it is, is technique and how bad you want to go. That is my opionion and i think it seems to prove the point of weight vs. technique. Wolverine

ORIGINAL: Cannon432 I need a workout or some ideas to get my powerclean from 20-25 reps and my bench from 27-30 reps I remember watching last years NFL All Stars strength competition, which was measured by, that's right, you guessed it, how many times they could bench 225. As I remember it, no one could break 30 reps. So your goal of 27-30 reps as a highschooler is pretty impressive.

gtown, where you play? I'm about to be a senior in high school, and I got it 16 times the other day, which I thought was pretty good. I dont think you can powerclean 225 16 times or how many it was. That is putting your max at like 380 on cleans? Thats a huge number for a high school kid.

Seeing how many times you can rep 225 is a College and NFL combine test for upper body strength. They test you in the 40 yard dash for speed. You test in the vertical jump to see the explosivness in your legs. You test the pro shuttle to see how quick you are and how fast you can change direction.

225 lbs reps are for the NFL players. college scout only look at reps of 205 for the bench for there prospects, or atleast this is the way i tis done here,no power cleans because not evry body trains for then and you could realy hurt your self.

Well it sucks now because the testing which tests the reps at powerclean and Bench is in a week. But i dont know what I can do. Im just gonna in blind and surprise myself. I mean I max reps after I bench for reps of 5x5 and I can only get like 17 or 18 or around that. So im not sure what i can do right now. Then for powerclean after I do a workout I max out on reps and I can only do like 11 and before that I actually did it 16 times fresh. so does anyone have any idea what ill be able to do. Im just hopin Ill go in and surprise myself. But Im not sure. Give me ur insight.
