Your response is again disturbing. Sad that people just accept and support laws that violate the innocent.
People that rape or hurt children should be put to death. That crime is as bad as murder or worse. Ore justice system is so far away from just it blows my mind. And the reason for it is that most people support the injustice because they are unable to think for themselves.

Clearly, your friend isn't innocent (in the eyes of the Justice system, not me), if he was, we wouldn't be having this discussion. He had sex with someone that is underage and the current law states that it's illegal. It's unfortunate your friend felt this law wasn't important and took risks that led to some unwanted consequences.
Can you point to the statement I made that supports this law or accepts it?
I beleive what I said was :

I find this interesting because it reads as if you're attacking me for not thinking for myself.
I know what the laws are and I abide by them. Some laws I agree with and others I don't, but I won't break the law simply because I think it's "unfair" then run around calling myself a "victim" due to my own ignorance or disregard for the law.
Since this law is not very fair and you and I can at least agree on that ... what have you done in your attempts to change the law? Clearly, you feel much more strongly about this law then I do, so what have you done to innovate change?

I don't know too much about the laws in California but Cali is one of the toughest states on crime and if the girl is over 14 and there's less than 10 years diff in age then it's only a misdemeanor. Also, being intentionally deceived by the victim over the victim's age is a legitimate defense, although that is very hard to prove in court (usually he said / she said unless the defense can produce witnesses, a track record of similar deceit, or a fake ID). Point being, if you live somewhere other than Cali (except Texas), I would think you'd get even a lighter penalty.
Plus, who filed charges against him and who reported the crime? If the mother is lying about the girl's age to the guy, who else would have filed charges or sparked a criminal investigation on your friend? Did he cheat on the 17yo and piss her off or something? Under the circumstances you described, there were no school officials involved so I don't see how charges got filed and picked up by the D.A.'s office in the first place.
Also, why such a steep sentence? I know of a dude who molested an 8yo girl, was charged with 3 felony offenses, and got 1yr work furlough, probation with counseling, and that was it since it was his first offense and plea-bargained out. I don't see why a judge would give a 19yo kid a 5-year prison sentence over having sex with a girl who is months away from being an adult and under the circumstances it went down under.
How did they even prove he had sex with her? Her testimony? Usually you need more than that like a recorded phone call (done by law enforcement who I doubt would investigate a 17yo screwing a 19yo live-in boyfriend), the victim being pregnant, or something similar.
I just don't see why a D.A. would pick up a case like that. Crimes are crimes, but you have to have a serious victim, a criminal complaint filed, a formal investigation, and serious evidence to present in court before a D.A. will pick up a case. Under the situation you described, I don't see why anyone would waste county resources on that whatsoever or have it show up on any law enforcement's radar in the first place.
I'm not calling you a liar at all, I just don't understand why that 19yo got shafted so bad over something that doesn't even seem like it'd get picked up by the D.A.'s office. Was he already on probation or something? This was his first offense? Women get 6 years for voluntary manslaughter.

The mother was the one who pressed charges against my friend......It was pretty much a party house....plenty of drugs involved....of which my friend had prior convictions...The mother had a falling out with my friend over some drug deal gone bad and pressed charges.
Its not uncommon to get that around here(in Virginia)He got 5 years but i think he only pulled 3.
I know a 20 year old guy who bought a 16 year old cigerettes and had to pull 6 months for contributing.
My point was there should be a different designation from this guy and some dude molesting an infant or toddler.But here in virginia (and anywhere else for all i know) there isn't. They are all considered sex offenders.
As a matter of fact I know a guy who pulled time for raping his own wife!....Story was he came home drunk....Tried to get him some but she didn't want to.....He kept on and on and on til she finally relented......he passed out and then woke up to the local cops dragging him out of bed.....And his wife admitted that his version was true but said it was still against her will and he pulled 18 months....Luckily this was well before the time of Sex offender registries or he'd be on the web site with the true child molesters

I tell you what's petty, there was this school teacher that supposedly displayed a porn pop-up to her students accidentally (supposedly it ad-ware) but they are investigating on this. The teacher if she is charged, will be sentenced to 40 yrs jail. How unfair is that!?!

Very petty. Since she's a chick, she'll probably get probation. Teachers who have sex with their students get less than 25% of that time.
The problem with that teacher's situation is that adult-themed adware can basically only be contracted from adult themed websites and law enforcement knows this. They probably took that into consideration. She didn't get adult themed adware on her computer unless she was at some adult websites which is weird because most .edu ISP's block access to such sites.
It'll be really easy to find out if there's adware on the computer. The registry, BHO's, Active X controls, index.dat files, temp folders, cookie folder, system services control panel, msconfig program, and the school's firewall logs and network packet sniffing logs (if any) should reveal that easily.

If you are such an adware expert and can tell the originating site of where adware comes from, how did adware get installed on your PC in the first place? Or do you know the names of specific companies who install adult-themes software from sites which do not have 18 U.S.C. 2257 notices clearly labeled on the site (a federal offense in the United States)? I wonder where these sites you know of that install adult-themed adware are? I'm sure they're nowhere a teacher should be going. When that happens on Myspace, it's removed within 24 hours and at some point you still have to click on something adult-oriented like an "Myspace Adult Content Viewer" scam popup or something a teacher shouldn't be clicking on.
I'm not calling you a liar whatsoever, but I am interested in hearing your answers to what I asked you.
Hopefully it's not vague like "Uhhh... I don't remember, but my Spybot program caught it and deleted it". I myself would definitely remember a non-adult site that tried to install adult themed adware on my PC without my consent or as a result of clicking a non-adult themed link because I would want to avoid that specific site in the future.
