Hey girl. I've been here on DB for a couple weeks now, and I just noticed this forum. I've been over in the guy section, lol I already said a lot of this over in the guy camp, but if you want bigger arms, I would think that you could have them. From what I've been through bodywise over the years, and the last 4 months when i finally decided to train with weights, I can tell you this; Even though I'm 5'2" 125 pounds, I was totally puny my whole life. Soft and cuddly for my husband, but so weak and frail. I never played sports, never exercised, never left the couch or my pack of smokes except for my 7-3 job. Things changed drastically over the last 4 months, because I decided to join my husbands gym. When I got there the first week, I was gonna follow the other girls, watch what they did, and do the same. It's because I couldn't afford to pay the trainer guy. I started watching the trainer with women, and it didn't take me long to feel like they were wasting their time. Pink dumbbells and rubber bands. I tried it too, but it just didn't challenge me. So I did what I think YOU should do too if you want bigger arms. I followed the men. I asked my husband to let me train with him, and it was the best decision I ever made. Yes it was very hard the first 3 or 4 weeks, but it got easier. I started off with very poor weights. I was curling 10 pound dumbells lol I could only press 10's over my head, and I was leg pressing with only 1 of the 45 plates on each side while all the guys were putting 4 or 5 of them on. Even the very puny guys could do 2 or 3 plates, and they could use 20's to curl with easily. Now it's 4 months later. Everything has changed. I trained 5 days a week, took the protien shakes, did the cardio, and nevr missed my workouts. Now I curl with 25's for 10 reps (without having to lean backwards), I leg press with 4 plates on each side, I can press 35's over my head 8 times for 3 sets, and my rowing with the cable went up to 140 from only 60 when I started. All my lifting went up a lot. When I look in the mirror now, I can't believe it's even me. I'm hooked. I'm addicted. I feel hard as a rock now. lol But if I had joined the gym and followed the other girls by curling pink dumbells and stretching those rubber bands I would have quit when my body didn't change and my arms and legs didn't grow. (I did keep the pink gloves though, lol) Don't be affraid to pick up bigger weights just because you're a girl. I wish you the best of luck. Go for it girl! Tawney

I didn't realize that, lol But the fact that the post is a year and a half old and the person still hasn't joined a gym or even figured out a way to get some home weights says a lot. I don't mean to be judgemental, but why do people stay here if they aren't going to really work towards perfecting their body? I'm confused, lol If I stopped lifting I would leave and go do something else, but if I stay it's only common sense that I will try to make steady improvements in size and strength and how hard I work out. I will hold myself accountable to move forward OR I'll just throw my gym bag in the closet and watch TV again. It seems strange to be here 18 months later still talking about wanting to get in shape someday?

Oh, one serious question- is this a bodybuilding and weightlifting forum, or a girls on diets kind of place? I got the impression this was about a bodybuilding lifestyle?

The last post here was Febuary 2006. So she's not around, there just have not been enough posts since then in this particular forum. This is Female bodybuilding, so it is Bodybuilding, but since there are very few women on this forum, and training and diet for the most part is just like the boys, there is not a lot of activity. But if you have a female specific question than this is the place for it. Or if you just want to post for a predominately female response, here is the board.

At my gym (I finally wised up to the fact that strength training requires me to either a) buy dumbells/barbells/what-have-you or b) join the gym, and b seemed more fun) there are the free weights all neatly stacked: 5kg, 7.5kg, 10, 15, and so on...and then you have an honest-to-goodness bucket which contains the ickle pink and yellow and blue weights. Which really told me everything I needed to know. (Mind you, I'm still having to use the little 2.5kg ones sometimes, but I'm working on it!) No, not many women around here, but those of you who do post are very inspiring. I especially love your signature, thehardway, and have adopted 'Real Women are Strong' as a motto for all aspects of life.

I propose a toast, to the end of wussyness!
