The Danimal's Velocity Diet - Tuesday, May 27, 2008 12:49 PM
I will be documenting my journey through the velocity diet.  I have never gone through a cut before, so it will be tough.  I just spent the last semester putting on 30 pounds and I think it is time to take some of them off.

I bought all of the supplements at once so there is no chance of me failing at this.  Here are the best prices and where I got everything:
Flax Seeds - GNC - $7
Super Fiber - GNC - $17
(could/should have gotten benefiber cheaper at wal-mart)
Multi-Vitamin - Walmart - $12.50
Fish oil - Walmart - $9.00
Hot Rox Extreme (2) - Amazon.com - $78
Metabolic Drive Low-Carb (5)- T Nation - $165
Surge Post Workout (2) - T Nation - $66
Total -------------------------------------~$338

I am not sure if this is all that I will need.  If I do need more, I will post it.

Some current stats:
Height - 5'10"
Weight - 197 lbs.
Body fat - 14%

I will be doing my regular lifting routine, an upper body lower body split 6 times a week.  I have not decided on the NEPA walks yet, but I hope that I canget myself to do them.

Unfortunately, I do not have camera so I cannot upload any progress pics, but I will let you know how it is going.

I will be eating between 1445 calories on non-workout days and 1730 calories on workout days.  I just ordered all of the supplements today, so I will have to wait until they get here to start.  I also have a lot of eggs in the fridge, so I will have to wait until I eat them too, shouldn't be more than a week though.  Anyway, wish me luck.

I just got the last of my supplements in today and I have figured out what I will eat every day.  I don't know how Chris Shugart got his numbers with what he was eating, but I had to make some big changes from what he eats.  I am still within my calory, carb, and protein range every day, but I am eating:

Workout Days
8 low carb shakes
1 serving of flax seeds
1 surge shake
1 serving of fiber
20 fish oil caps
1510 Calories, 97g Carbs, 195g protein

Non-workout days
8 low carb shakes
2 servings of flax seeds
1 surge shake
no fiber
20 fish oil caps
1570 Calories, 95g carbs, 197g protein

It looks like I am going to have to buy quite a bit more of the low carb shakes, fish oil, and flax seeds.  I am working out 6 days a week so I only have 1 day off.  It was tricky messing with the numbers to get them where they are so I don't think that I will be eating a solid meal at all b/c I don't want to take the time to figure out those numbers.

I ordered a body fat measurer (using bio-impedance) off of amazon but it won't be here for a little while.  I will be tracking my bf% with that when I get it.  Right now I am 195 @14% bf.

I don't know if you are familiar with the velocity diet but if you aren't, you only drink shakes for 4 weeks and you are allowed 1 solid meal per week.  I am not going to eat any actual food since it was tricky enough to get the numbers right with just the supplements.  I was planning on eating oatmeal and strawberries or a banana on sundays, but oatmeal is barely a solid meal so I figure I might as well go without.  Plus, I just had my first shakes this morning and the chocolate low carb shake is delicious.  I think I will be alright without any solids.

yep danimal, i was looking over your last few posts.   was about to mentioned that 5 tubs of protein powder PRoooobably isn't enought to last a full month.

better go out and grab 4 or so more just to be safe.   i look forward to seeing your results from this diet.    got any pics??   please take before picture, and after pictures if you can.    don't just go by the scale.

yea felony.. like he mentioned, this diet is all protein shakes (of course you add in flax for fiber and a multi-vitamin) and you get 1 meal per week. there are NO cheat meals.. and the actual meal that is eaten per week is clean as well (chicken, brocolli, that sorta stuff).

good luck danimal. i'm rootin' for ya

I considered using different supplements but I think that in your thread about the V-diet Marc David said it would be best to use what he says.

The way I read the article was that it didn't really matter what workout you do.  He only goes to the gym 3 or 4 days a week and I can't take that many days off, I feel like a slackass.

I don't have a digital camera but I do have a camera phone.  I am trying to find the right cables and equipment to transfer those pics to my computer, but I am taking progress pics.  I will weigh in every morning just out of curiosity, but I will take pics and bf% once a week and I will post the pics when I figure out how to transfer (I know that I could e-mail them but I'd rather have the equipment stuff).  If anyone knows what I need to transfer pics from an LG chocolate I would appreciate the help.

RE: The Danimal's Velocity Diet - Wednesday, June 04, 2008 11:41 AM
Alright, I've finished 1 day so far.  Yesterday, I took Hot-Rox when I woke up and then around 1:00 but only 1 each time so I could get used to it.  No problem with that so I took 2 both times today.  I started feeling really anxious about 1 1/2 to 2 hrs after my first dose and I just took my second dose about 40 minutes ago so nothing yet, but I am waiting to see what happens.  When I was feeling anxious, I wasn't shaking or anything and it didn't raise my heart-rate, but I did just want to get up and move around or do something, but I was in class so I couldn't.  It isn't too bad, but it is somewhat inconvenient and I am hoping that I can just get used to it.

I drank over a gallon of water yesterday, way more than I usually do and the hardest part was just remembering to drink that often.  I lost 3 yesterday (I weigh myself in the mornings for consistency) but I'm guessing that it was a lot of water weight b/c I peed like crazy yesterday.

Does anybody have a good strategy for taking flax seeds?  I was just shovelling them into my mouth yesterday and they don't tast too bad, but I think I read on some thread that they only work if you chew them enough and you break through the shells or whatever.  I was chewing them for a while but I'm sure that I didn't get all of them.  Do I need to break them all open or will they digest if I just swallow them?

I don't really do any NEPA walks or anything, but I do walk around campus during the day with my 25+ lb. backpack.  I guess that I walk somewhere around 3/4 to 1+ miles a day, not all at once.  Is that enough or do I need to do more at once.  I also play racquetball a couple times a week, so I get some cardio in there as well.

That's about all for now,
Later

P.S.  I am just starting to feel anxious from the second dose of how-rox, nothing bad yet.

i don't know about the flax seed question.  i remember reading an article about them a while back.   is there a reason you can't just take flax oil capsules?

stick with it bro.  it will be worth it hopefully in 30 days when it's all over with

You are suppose to get milled flax. I think that is suppose to help you with the "full" feeling. It has  fiber. If I remember--I think you are suppose to put in the shake. Making it a thicker more satisfying shake.
It is like 4 bucks a bag-sometimes cheaper.

Grind the seeds in a grinder. a coffee grinder-maybe?

AND are you using the natural peanut butter?? I think you are also suppose to use PB in the shake (some of the shakes).
