What Were You Doing at this weight - Saturday, May 03, 2008 2:46 PM
im 170 right now and somedays if i eat more than usual the scale hits 175. im just wondering for the experienced guys out there, what were you lifting at my wegiht> i wanna compare and see if im sucking or not. for example, i can deadlft 225 15 times and i pulled 280x6 the other day. i dont know bodyweight/lifting ratios very well. and my bench is stuck at 150-170.

I wouldnt worry about comparing numbers unless your goal is to be a power lifter someday.

We all progress differently, dont be worried about sucking or not, as long as your seeing gains and your progress is moving in a positive direction thats what matters. Besides others will be at different points at 170, BF%, muscle mass, etc will all be diff.

Hell, I dont even remember anything at 170, and im at 240ish now.

i see your point.

but at least do you know if 280x6 is...for a lack of a better word 'impressive' for 170? i ask these things because im self-conscious about pretty much everything in life. hell, when the gym gets crowded i get intimiated almost and just stop working out.

Something you should try to get over.

Your deadlift seems good for your weight tho. Try to stay positive and focus on you!

compared to alot of people on this forum that is good.  i think bodybuilders are weak... when i played football in high school i weighed 150ish benched 215, deadlifted 320, and squatted nearly 400.  nearly everybody on my team lifted around these numbers compared to their body weight. maybe we just had a good strength program.  i have noticed that there are alot of week people on this site that are big.  i guess they arent really training for strenght though

Nevermind

but in short yes, Size is not always equal to strength. And little things matter like your body, exercises, routines, diet etc..

I never really worried bout strength till powerlifting season came araound, but when I weighed about 170, I could get around 200 on bench and I didn't even work squat or deadlift. I looked alot stronger than I actually was. I always felt pretty weak back then. Now I realize for bodybuilding, strength doesn't matter that much  Now I'm 200 lbs and bench 290, raw squat 385, and DL 435.

I'm not too fussed about strength as I used to be. Half my lifts have plateau'd.
Bench isn't going past 205lbs, Deadlift's not going past 325lbs and my Squat's stuck at my all time low of 300lbs.

Like I said though, atm I've been decreasing my weight on everything to get better with my form and that's much more important than strength in my books. I'll get to the strength training after I reach my goals... lol

im getting interested into powerlifting lately. i think it requires far more "toughness" than bbing. sure bb'ers are dedicated and its a tough sport with the dieting and training and shxt. but i look at these powerlifters and say "wow, that dude just squated 1010" its a pretty amazing feet to accomplish. but of course, who wants that powerlifting gut. lol

At 170-175lbs i was benching (max) nearly 210lbs ish
deadlifting 345lbs ish(max) and
squatting 220lbs for a few reps

At 188 im now

benching 160lbs (max)
deadlifting 425lbs (max)
squatting 220lbs for a few reps still LOL.

I wouldnt worry too much about strength, you appear to be like me, all back no tits.

Its not all bad though, a big back can look more impressive than a big chest, not to mention a big strong back is more useful for everyday activities.

A big strong chest has 3 advantages

1.It gets looks
2.It allows you to "tit dance"
3.It allows you to bench a lot

It's impossible to meddle with something that doesn't have a plan
