then u must not read a lot. being thin isnt hard. if somone would rather be fat just so they can eat then they have some priority issues.

Uh, seriously? Because I eat less than 500 calories a day of food without added sugar or high carb content and work out four times a week, and I'm not thin. So is there some magic easy thing that I'm missing here? because I'd love to learn the magic skinny secret.

first of all u are thin. and theres no way u could eat less than 500 calories a day working out 4x a week and not be thin. if ur overweight doing that theres something messed up with ur metabolism, and i dont mean that it's just slow.

i was fat as a kid. i decided i didnt want to be so i lost weight, but it wasnt even done in a healthy way like i do it now. i got really skinny by eating whatever food i wanted, just a lot less of it. it wasnt healthy but its not complicated

uh.. seriously?  you STILL think you're fat?  --sigh--  what you see in the mirror is disregarded as a fact.   you're way too hard on yourself.  plenty of people here have seen pictures of you... and YOU're THIN!!!!

Well the point was, it's not easy for some people to be thin. Not by a long shot.

there was a time when the majority were thin even when there was fast food, there has also been obese people before there was ever fried and fast foods.

some people are bigger than others.

like my buddy who lifts and eats healthy, he is 6'1 and 250, he was told he is obese, they say he should be 180, ha a guy his height and deadlifts 580 180, that would be unhealthy IMO to stress himself to get to that weight, even if he cut out half his meat consumtion (which would be a healthier descison for him) and ate more fruits/veggies he would still be 215ish.
he was obese in high school and always was before that, until now, he's still 250+ sometimes.

I eat healthy most of the time, however when it comes to food I think like Doug Heferdon alot of times, kill some wings, and more mac and cheese please!!!

exactly, eating perfectly and working out is tough but its so easy to just be thin

I'm sorry.. but this has to be the dumbest thing I've ever read.

I think what David meant wasn't it's easy to get thin, I think he meant to lose weight.

The majority of the obese people eat like crap.  Fixing their diet even a LITTLE will help them lose weight.

Example:

250 pound woman eats McDonald's 3x a day.  Then she starts eating mcdonalds twice a day, and a salad for lunch.

She would lose 21-45 pounds (depending on height, bone density, and bf%) in a year.

From changing one meal.

I think that's what David was saying, it's simple to not be obese.

Thats the bit i found interesting.. its obvious about less sickness less costs.. although i though in america everywhere was private so it makes no difference.. wouldnt that only apply to UK.

I recon there should be a fat tax, i don't see why when luggage is weighed and costs more the more there is.. why i should pay the same price as sombody who weighs twice the amount then me.

Most people don't consider 200 pounds fat, unless you're short.

Gross use of data personally, what you say is true, but not towards the statistics of nowadays, not to mention there was an obvious trend with rich people of tribes going back many years being the fattest, hell in africa it still runs that way, the fatter you are youre the alpha male/female.

Im not saying youre wrong, im just saying that statement doesnt quite show any relevance to the fact that over half of americas population are obese since the making of fast food, and other dietary uses.

Duchess we've had this debate before, youre not fat for one by numbers alone, and by pictures youre not fat either.

"slow metabolism" is a crock, you cant break laws of science, and science states in order for something to move you need energy.

To work out 4 times a week and have processes the body does ANYWAY with a weekly amount of 3500 calories and somehow stay fat is impossible, unless you are a facultative autotroph, rather than an obligate heterotroph.

In which case get your ass to the nearest researcher, youre the first ever. Smile

EDIT:Apart from C4 plants, my lecturer would slap me round the face if he read this, i only did this a few weeks ago.

Or was it C3 plants...**** i need to revise...

I wonder how fat America really is, I think it's just typical media bullshit.  Obesity doesn't usually mean fat, it means a BMI of 30 or higher.  I have a BMI of 29.9, which I like to round up to 30 (I'd only have to gain a fraction of a pound) just so I can tell people that I'm obese.  My body fat is only like 16%, I'm just short and heavy.  I have no idea why they don't measure body fat percentage to determine "obesity"

%bodyfat is not relative its proportional lol someone who id 200 pounds and 20% has proportionally the same fat as someone 150 pounds and 20% bodyfat.  %bodyfat is a very good indicator of obesity and IMO the only measurement that should be used for obesity.  BMI IS WORTHLESS

Joey you weigh 190 at 16% bodyfat you have 30.4 pounds of bodyfat someone who is 140 with 16% bodyfat has 22.4 pounds of bodyfat....

Where do you live and how much have you traveled. In my opinion this coutry has a problem with obesity, even with taking into consideration the innacurracies of BMI.

Have you ever been to Wisconson?

Please Philadelphia was the fattest city in the country , what three years ago... although there is a definate divide between Philly and the rest of the state, but the fatness is pretty much everywhere.

Don't forget the billions of tax dollars being wasted rebuilding New Orleans.

False.

I mean it's a waste because the city is in the same location, therefore another hurricane will have the same effect as the last one.

Katrina hit Mississippi a lot harder than it hit New Orleans.  Most people didn't hear about Mississippi because the entire city didn't get flooded due to a poor geographic location.

I'm all for rebuilding people's homes, but not in the same spot.  That's a waste of time, resources, and life, when another hurricane hits.

Had they rebuilt it in a more geographically sound location, it wouldn't be as bad.
