are there any free mythology type games like this? idk why but i always thought greek mythology was cool
edit: lol idk what to do now, i built a an acadamy, barracks, and have people researching apparently. doesnt look like theres much to do

You need to research expansion before you can build a palace. It'll be a little while before you can do that. Make sure you've got people collecting wood and whatever luxury resources, and research tech as fast as possible. When you can build a trading post, then you can start selling and buying resources from other players and can do more stuff.
I'm sending everybody stuff, but I've got a limited number of boats and action points, so it might be a while before I get to everyone (and you're all pretty far away, the closest of you is like 14 hours).

If you don't upgrade your town hall the population is capped at 60.

When I look at my town hall, the last item, population is a red bar that says -160, my total satisfaction is 189 though. What does this mean?

it means u have 160 people and ur happy. somehow my population just went down to 57, and i thought i upgraded my town twice already

Why would is say -160 then?
Also, I would suggest rotating between the academy, and the town hall. My town hall is heading to level 4 or 5, and my academy is at level 5, I need 5 more crystal glass to upgrade it further. In 7 hours I'll be able to build a palace, so then I can colonize on the other islands around me and capitalize on the resources availible.

what do you need to be able to build palace (i.e what building and what lvls?)

You need an academy, level doesn't matter, the higher the level though, the faster you research. Also, in the acadamy you need to research expansion, which is under the Seafaring category.
Also, you guys should all move to my area of islands. We can take over everything.
