Yeah i have a governers mansion and 0% corruption, its not lost gold per se, its upkeep....which is strange, maybe a governer gets paid to keep the other colony so i have to pay the guy off as it were?

Its going to take some time......But i have noticed with a 4 island radius only 3 constant members sell wine...including me.
I dont know how much it costs to blockade harbours, but im going to blockade these 2 and sell wine at extortionate prices...or they have to travel loads more..
I might get up to 6-7 islands radius to check it out though
even better is the other islands arent established much...

Jheft should found an alliance called "DBB" and we should try to occupy and blockade and pillage as many people on the server as we can.
Itd be cool to get every regular built up here, 40+ people allied would be great!

damn i really suck at this game, i've lost 3/4 of my pillagings.
i dont know how u guys can afford to keep a big army all the time. i had 3500 gold yesterday and made 10 swordsmen and 20 slingers, now there all gone and i have like 14 gold left

David, you'll need to have a steady income before you can afford an army that big. 20 slingers and 10 swordsmen eat up 320 gold per hour. Unless you're pulling in that much, they're going to run you dry. Wait until you have like 50,000 gold saved up, or until you've got enough population to support the upkeep before you try to build a big army, otherwise you're just going to dig yourself into a big hole.
You can click on your gold in the upper left to get a balance sheet. You need to keep the number in the lower right corner positive, or at the very least, don't let it go negative long enough to run you out of money.

To get spies, you have to build a hideout, and you have to research espionage to be able to do that (third item in the science category.) And you don't have to start over completely with the new colony - all the colonies share research and gold in one pool, but the new colony will start out empty except for a level 1 town hall.
