I got a 2nd island as well.. Toreos [52:35] Karpaz
hopefully, 3rd one as soon as i upgrade my palace...
meanwhile, what's the best way to prevent people pillaging your town? i just lost 1200 wood, and 240 marble :(

Did you get any resources, twisted?
Phalanxes are the way to go for defense. My new town got attacked last night, but I somewhat expected it (new towns, particularly on marble islands, are the most popular target for pillaging), so I had already moved some phalanxes there from a nearby town for defense (it takes several upgrades of the barracks before you can make them). There were quite a few attackers, but I sent them packing easily.

do you get the resources instantly?
I have 4 boatloads full, or does money take boats too?
Theyre coming back now, il see what i got when they arrive i suppose, if not then i won nothing, but my spy said he had a lot of money and tonnes of resources, and a fairly levelled warehouse but nowhere near high enough to support all his resources!

lol i might keep pillaging the dude...Im now the highest power on my original island, nobodies expanding there townhall anymore, and my spies suggest most are/have been inactive for some time...cool...Im gonna go pillage crazy now haha.

I've never done pillaging before, so I don't really know how it works.
One of the limiting factors is that you've got a very limited amount of time to pillage, and their docks have to load you up, so if they have them at a very low level, you can't get away with much.

his dock is level 3 which isnt terribly bad...better than nothing lol.
I need to get some phalanxes to my marble colony asap then, though the amount of resources there is pitiful, and im not even mining marble there yet im trying to get enough wood to build the basics.
Is it just me or does wood appear to be the least resource available?
I never have enough of it ever, im always waiting to get enough.

164 gold (WTF?!?! he had 81k, and it said you get town level (town level-1) %, he had level 5

my maths is rather rusty, but im pretty sure 20% of 81,000 is NOT 164
506 wood
391 wine
261 marble
So not too bad, im mad about the gold though, i was expecting a nice juicy 15k along the way, which would have bought many resources.

Maybe ill try this game, i'm always looking for fun games to play while at work lol.
Ive thought about bringing some dumbbells to work and do some lifting while at my desk. hahaha.

On reflection, it took more wood and gold to pillage the place than i got by pillaging it...
So ive actually made a loss apart from wine (which i can get) and marble...which i can also get....hmmmm.....lol

Boy, that's a bit disappointing. If I wanted that much resources I would just wait an hour and I'd harvest that much.
Wood is probably the #2 most needed after marble... Early on when your towns are only like level 10 or less, it might be #1. You need more wood than marble, of course, but it's on every island and it takes half as many people to harvest the same amount.

I'm surprised you guys are getting pillaged that much... I've only been attacked twice (both fairly half-assed) in the whole time I've been playing. Are you donating to your saw mills and quarries/mines/whatever? Sometimes people will pillage you if you're being a leech and not contributing to shared resources...

There are mercenaries you can hire if you look on the forum... The best defense is to be a less vulnerable looking target than the next guy; put up some sort of defense (a few phalanxes, ballista ships and a town wall at least), don't leave around excessive piles of resources, make the town look big enough that it doesn't look like easy pickings, etc.

Pillaging is badass. It does cost more money than actually buying the resources, BUT when you take over a level 11 town, and keep it as your own, it's worth it.
