No. there are no specific exercises that will give you cleaner looking lines- That's a quesion of bodyfat percentage. No, there are no good tips for losing fat in that area. If you read this thread, you'll see that there's no such thing as spot reduction- You have to lose fat all over in order to try and reduce fat in any give area. The way to do this is through proper nutrition and cardio- Like I said earlier in this thread- So what you need to do is head over to the nutrition forum and write a little about how you eat right now along with your goals.

Ohh.. sorry for any confusion.

I do some cardio at the moment, but I should (and will) do much more, both in preparation for recruit training and to reduce my BF%.

The thing is, the kind of stomach i want is... i don't want abs that protrude as big bricks of muscle.. i want good definition, but i also want my abs to be relatively flat (not bulky)... and also a little longer. i don't suppose this is possible, though.

Flat abs are possible- You don't have to work the abs for size with heavy weights. They won't get big if they don't have to- Longer abs, on the other hand, is mother nature's department- you get what you're born with when it comes to that.

Hmm. Most of what I'm doing is manual anyway. If I keep doing manual stuff and pick up the cardio for BF% loss, do you think my abs will become more defined but will not stick out like an oven tray of cupcakes?

Yes.

With any muscle group, you have to have it to show it. Not all skinny guys look muscular. They might have low body fat but nothing to show. Abs are like any other muscle. You have to build them a bit in order for them to show. But once you know you have them, it's really a low body fat percentage that gets them into the spotlight.

To all of you arguing about body fat. It was medically proven over a decade ago that body fat spot reduction is a myth.
To 8pack, if you can get more defined abs by only working them more, and you never do any cardio, then it's because you already have a low enough body fat % that you are not losing body fat but in fact increasing muscle mass, even though it appears that you are losing fat.
To ShangriLa, you need to do less reps with a weigh(such as a medicine ball) and a variety of abs movements (there are literally hundreds), try fireman's and others that involve turning at the waist to get a more rippled effect.

Hey it depends on what you want if you just want a beach body then do ab workouts with weights on an incline bench. If you just want to get stronger get weights but much lower weights and try to get to the point where you can do those vey easily. This helps athletes
