pizza after workout
-
Sunday, November 18, 2007 11:46 AM
one of my friends plays college football and he was telling me that their strength and conditioning coach was telling them that pizza after a workout is pretty good for you because of all the carbs and added protein obviously he didnt meen every day but ocasionally.. you guys also have to realize that hes not trying to make bodybuilders hes trying to make kids bigger/faster so that might play a role aswell what do you guys think?

I think it's fine to have say a slice of pizza with a protein shake after a workout. The complex carbs would spike insulin, improving protein absorbtion. People overreact about pizza. It's fine in moderation, but I wouldn't eat it too often. At the end of the day your macro breakdown and total calories is what matters.

It's really the amount of fat in pizza that is worse than anything. The cheese has quite a bit of fat in it...especially bad PWO. Add toppings and it only get fattier.

I've always taken the cheese off my pizza. Even when I was like 12. I always looked like a weirdo haha.

I make pizza sometimes for lunch. I use a whole grain tortilla, no-fat cheese, pizza sauce, and turkey pepperoni. Might not sound good, but its really not that bad and pretty decent for you. High in protein, low in fat and calories.

i tried it out yesterday one slice light cheese, i guess it did me alright didnt notice anything out of the ordinary no bloating or gain in weight. I drank a glass of oj so the insulin spike would take in the glucose. I guess its not bad once in a while

I meant the coach bagels, not you. And, for the record, I thought the obnxious emphasis of the word "idiot" was appropriate.
