is the strength of a teenager supposed to be the equivilent of some one 20+? Saying if they were same height and everything. Because right now im around 205lbs w/ 16 bf and my strength sucks ****. My leg and back are strong but my arms and chest are soo weak I think its mainly because my bicep strength is weak. Today at the gym i could barely do 15lbs for 10 reps on a concentration curl and 40lbs - 50lbs for 10 reps on a preacher curl ez bar(free weights) i got 16 inch arms with good quality. Mostly its all my triceps i could be at 17 inches with good biceps. Plus im cutting right now and i know im supposed to lose strength but my biceps were always weak. And i see older people who weigh less than me and have smaller arms curl more than me and bench more than me. So is it a age thing or am i just a weak.

Teenagers normally aren't as strong as adults the same size.

thats true. even though i work out, my dad can easily beat me in arm wrestling-- and he never touched a weight in his life. adults are naturally strong.

Well I'm 18 and I curl 80llbs with a olympic bar. Though I'm always increasing my strength in my biceps they don't seem to be getting bigger. I think I need to work my tricep more and then go back to my biceps in order to get them bigger. So I think you may need to do the same.

Chest Incline Bench Press 4x3 Decline Bench Press 4x3 Flys 4x7 Biceps (not ezbar)Barbell Curls 4x7 DB Hammer Curls 4x7 Naturally the Biceps are a smaller muscle group than the biceps, so like I said earlier you may need to bulk your triceps up more before you can bulk the biceps.

Your body stops growing and forming at the age of 25, unless your a female and then it's at the age of 21. So your body still has a long way to go before it's at it's full potential for BB yet.

Thats weird cuz im 165lbs 17 yrs old and can curl ligit 45 lb dumbell 6-8 reps and around 100 on preacher curl. Maybe you beating it to much bro lol jk. IDk tho.. As for old man strength I like to think i'm pretty strong, at least i know i am for my size i can beat 240 lb kids on our football team armwrestling and my dad just owns me. I guess old people just have more dense muscles. maybe after all the years of wear and tear.

Well its like you may have big arms etc. but someone anywhere between age of 25-55 will still be able to lift more than you if your 17. Yeh they are gettin on a bit and their muscles have diterierated over time, but they have still had those fully developed muscles and been through their peak age (25-35) and so their muscles are still denser and more developed than yours. Your 17, you havent even reached your prime yet let alone your muscles finished developing for another 8 years. You will see overweight 50 year olds with a beer belly able to life more than you even though theres no definition to their arms or anything, but you just have to remember that you havent finished growing.

dude, its only biceps. in actual strength they dont count for much. worry about your squat, bench, dead, power clean. lifts that really matter. you get those going in the right direction, you become unstoppable.

There is obviously a difference in being big and being strong, like you said yourself that you got big arms but just because their big doesn't mean their strong. Take a well trained martial arts student (I'm saying this because I have a friend in Judo) and compare yourself to him, he won't be big at all but he'll be strong enough to do 30-50 push-ups on his fingers, etc. you get the point. Try working on your strength because size is not everything although its a big chunk.

I read somewhere (and this might not be true so correct me if I am wrong) that people who do things like push ups, pullups, and squats are generally stronger than those who lift weights (Unless your lifting above your bodywieght) but those who lift weights have bigger muscles.
