What type of shoes do you guys use for your lifting??

As my weight goes up on my leg work, I am becoming increasingly concerned about the stability of my feet.

I have always used cross trainers,  but after looking at videos, I noticed that very flat shoes seem to be the norm. And I do feel that would help me with some of my stability issues.

Recomendations anyone?

Especially shoes that come in extra, extra wide widths (mens 4E), I'm a special girl, what can I say.

Usually wear the same sneaker I wear everyday. Hwoever I need a better squatting sneaker cause I dont want to ruin these, they're kinda nice. I'll get some 15 dollar crap shoes for leg day.

wow, i thought now one besides workin hard would ever respond.

I don't know, I was noticing that when i do romainian deadlifts and squats that my feet pitch forward and since there is a slope (I hazard to say heel) in the cross trainers, that that might encourage my heels to come off the ground.

Spartan i have no idea how to describe cross trainers, They are just all around usefull generic sneakers, not specifically designed for basketball, tennis, or running, i believe

I love the flats and used to always use my aesics or otomix shoes, made for boxing and wrestling - and I was kickboxing a lot back then too, I have lately used my runners or cross trainers or my flats, you know those cool ones in style now for a year...........I have a pair that slip on and feel so nice, and being a gymnast I like being in bare feet or flat, I recently bought a pair of stansha split sole dance shoes which is for my dance and gymanstics but great for plyometrics and even in the gym, not sure about running though.  I also got capulet stanshas, those are also split but very flat, with a slight spring heal like nike shox, those were like not wearing anything, like having better feet than I do now, but I try not to use them for the gym right now as they are my routine shoes.

haha mutant feet--that was funny! I feels ya!
I have small wide feet. 6.5 wide. cannot get women's b/c they are tight and size 7 can sometimes be too big depending on the shoe. So I normally get boys shoes for the gym.

then I was gonna say try men's...but then I read your post so think u have already done that.

A good cheap option would be chuck taylors converse. A more expensive one would be weightlifting shoes.

If you train at home, you can also opt for no shoes at all.

Chucks

Word.

They might not be great for running and such, but their thin, flat soles and high sides make them nice and stable for lifting. Plus they're cheap so you can replace them often, and they stretch and wear to mold to your feet.

How do you drop weight on your feet?  I have never seen this happen and I see a lot of people doing dumb things at my gym.

You know, I have never done it, but I do fear  it. Which is why while I've cosidered lifting barefoot, I but I can't quite make myself do it.

Eventhough everyone has linked me to shoe sources, none of them offer shoes in wide widths, WTF? I would assume there are powerlifters, olypicic lifter and a whole variety of athleats that have large bone structure (such as myself), and therefore would need wide shoes.

I'm kinda annoyed!

I wear Mizuno wave nirvana's which are strick running shoes, and although they arent flat bottomed they have a very stiff base (which for running gives spring), but i find myself on legs days in the same boat as you thehardway, because they are curved it feels like my feet start rolling forward onto my toes.

If i'm squatting i wear weightlifting shoes other then that i just wear regular track shoes. If u need a good pair of wide weightlifting shoes, vs athletic makes a good pair.
