Not a good idea working two large muscle groups in the same day such as chest and back back and legs chest and legs etc... its better if you work smaller muscle groups with your legs..
Why?

So you do not believe in full body workouts, upper/lower splits and Olympic lifting splits?

Quick question while I have some people lookin...

Any ideas for strengthening my shoulders? I've always had problems with them, they start to get real sharp pains when I get back into heavy weights lol and they never seem to get stronger. Like I feel for my weight I lift decent weights with everything except my shoulders and I hate it lol.

I get what IBB is saying. A large muscle group takes the steam out of you. Trying to do another at the same intensity is rather difficult. Especially for someone newer like Good Riddance. And anyone who has done olympic splits knows that is very true reguardless of experience.

Eh, that hurts lol. I started liftin a little over two years ago. Granted, the past year has been off and on and not really doing anything correctly diet-wise, I've been lifting awhile. Went a few weeks into Max-OT but cut it off to spend more time in the bball gym because the season was coming up...

Sorry it wasn't meant to offend you. I've been lifting 4+ years and I still don't do large muscle groups together unless I really cut back on the sets or intensity. I used to do back and chest together but realized it was a mistake and whichever muscle group was second never got a great workout.

LoL, I wasn't trying to sound mad or anything, and yeah I know what ya'll are saying. But I've figured that since I am only doing 3 different lifts a day I would be fine and I don't feel like I have been falling behind by the end of my workout...actually still feel like I could be doing more.

Another question...am I lagging on tricep work? I noticed the other day that it doesn't feel like the tri's are getting much work.

Ok, I've been looking around and I really just am not feeling this routine. I know it might sound immature or naive or something but...I want more! lol I just don't feel like I am getting enough, any suggestions?

Taking the weekend off and then I think on Monday I'll start my new 3 day split...

Day 1 - Back/Biceps
Day 2 - Chest/Triceps/Abs
Day 3 - Legs/Shoulders/Traps
Day 4 - Off

Day 1 - Deadlift/Hypers/Wide Grip Pull Ups or Downs
         Straight Bar Curls/Hammer Curls
Day 2 - Flat Bench/Incline Bench/Dips
         Close Grip Bench/Kickbacks
         Weighted Crunches/Planks
Day 3 - Squats/SL Deads/Calf Raises
         Overhead Press/Lateral Raises
         Diamond Bar Shrugs/Seated DB Shrugs

Day 1 - I would switch it up every now and then and put some heavy rows in instead of deads, and switch up my curls also.
Day 2 - I'm limited on what I can do for abs because of my back and the my school weight room doesn't have much. I could probably rig up something to do Hanging Lifts with tho.
Day 3 - Hams getting OT with squats and SLdeads? Need something to put in their for my quads?

Anyone seen anything I need to tweak?

New Routine

Day 1

Deadlift - 1x6 @ 135
              1x1 @ 185
              1x1 @ 225
1x1 @ 275 (Current Max, probably could have pulled atleast 280 but still had to do my sets so left it at that)
              1x10 @ 205

Straight Bar Rows - 1x6 @ 125
                           1x6 @ 125
                           1x6 @ 125
                           1x6 @ 125

One Arm DB Rows - 1x8 @ 75
                           1x8 @ 75
                           1x8 @ 75

Straight Bar Curls - 1x8 @ 75
                          1x8 @ 75
                          1x8 @ 75

Felt great, actually felt like a had a great pump going in my back, I don't get that a lot and I didn't notice until after the curls but my bis were tight, too. These first times on dead, bench, and squat I'm going to max so that I will have something to look at here in a month or two. Felt good though, I'll trust ya IBB. Smile

Day 2

Pushups - 1x8*
              1x8

Flat Bench -  1x1 @ 135*
                  1x1 @ 155*
                  1x1 @ 165*
                  1x1 @ 175*
                  1x6 @ 95
1x9 @ 135 (I SO wanted that 10 times, but I barely got 9 without spotter help and there was no way I was getting 10)

* These lifts were done during my break at work, around 2:30, to get my current max

Incline Bench - 1x6 @ 95
                    1x6 @ 95
                    1x6 @ 95
                    1x6 @ 95

Superset
A1 - Decline Barbell Bench
B1 - Close Grip Bench

A1 - 1x8 @ 115
B1 - 1x8 @ 95
A1 - 1x8 @ 115
B1 - 1x6 @ 95
A1 - 1x6 @ 115
B1 - 1x6 @ 95
(On both of these lifts I felt like I just hit a wall on the last 3 sets. I would have a good flow going and then I would just stop, and each time it was on my 5th rep and I managed to get a 6th out, but I was really getting mad. Maybe I had spent to much time loitering around the gym and had just tired myself out being in there to long, who knows.)

Honestly, I'm surprised I got up 175, but without those 4 sets before that I KNOW I could put up 180 and maybe 85. I didn't even stall on that 175. To put it into perspective...when I started lifting again about 2 weeks ago I was doing 3x8 @ 115 and honestly struggling a little bit and I could barely get 135 2 or 3 times. Now I can get 135x10 and could probably get 180 or 185 for a 1RM, definately seeing some quick improvement. Hoping to have my dead past 300 by the end of August, and my bench over 200. I'm maxing on squats tomorrow so I will have to set a goal for that, too.

Haha, just the thought of being able to load 2 plates on and have a SHOT at it within the next 4 or 5 months seems out there to me but I guess it could happen. LoL I'm definately on a little lifting high right now. Smile

Ok well I haven't lifted in the last 3 days in case anyone has been following or even cares. My lower back has been giving me really sharp pains and my next day is legs (squats and SL Deads) so I've been stalling lol. If I'm not fine by tomorrow I'm going to see a Doc and we will go from there.
