Hey everyone, I'm just starting out here: early twenties, been recovering from CFIDS, so I'm eager to get back into exercise! Smile This place is a great resource, and good for motivation too!

Welcome! Whatever you need, someone here can handle it. Smile

I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: 'I'm ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don't accept His claim to be God.' That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic -- on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg -- or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God: or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon; or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.

Hi all!  Man am I glad I found this place.  Everyone actually seems HELPFUL and friendly on this sight.  All the attitude from some of the other sites is getting pretty old.  Ya know, the "if your biceps aren't XX.X" diameter, you are worthless" kind of stuff.

Anywho, my name is Robert, and I am 37.  I am the definition of an ectomorph.  Just look it up in the dictionary, there is my picture! Smile  Tall and skinny, long arms, flat chest, etc....  I have been 5' 11" and 128-130 since high school.  I have always went through life thinking that since I eat everything under the sun and nothing has changed, I will never get any bigger or heavier.

Then about 2 years ago, my wife started training for figure competitions.  At first I could not adjust to the different meals she was making, so we always had two different meals at dinner time.  But after awhile I came around to liking some of the things she was making and that's when I started noticing the weight gain.

At the same time, I bought a workout program I saw on TV called P90X.  I had NEVER bought anything from an infomercial, let alone a workout program.  But, I have to say, it is a pretty intense workout, not some dance to the bee-bop music and get huge in 48 hours type of deal.  I noticed some changes pretty quickly, and if nothing else, it got me motivated!

I went from 130# and 4.8% BF to 146# and 4.3% BF in about 3 months.  I was really stoked!  During that time I started to learn all I could about nutrition and lifting programs.  I decided since P90X was nothing but isolation routines, that I should but that on the back burner and put together some compound routines.  I came up with this:

Monday (Pull):
Pull-ups                               2 sets to failure
Dumbbell bent-over rows        2 warm up sets, then 2x8
Upright rows                        2 warm up sets, then 2x8
Concentration curls               2 warm up sets, then 2x8
Shrugs                                2 warm up sets, then 2x12
Decline crunches                  3 sets to failure

Wednesday (Legs):
Squats                               2 warm up sets, then 2x8
Deadlifts                             2 warm up sets, then 2x8
Lunges w/dumbbells              2 warm up sets, then 2x8
Standing calf raises              2 warm up sets, then 2x12
Seated calf raises                2 warm up sets, then 2x12

Friday (Push):
Bench press                        2 warm up sets, then 2x8
Bar dips                              2 sets to failure
Bench dips                          2 sets to failure
Tricep pushdowns                2 warm up sets, then 2x8
Shoulder press                     2 warm up sets, then 2x8
Lateral raises                       2 warm up sets, then 2x8
Crunches                            3 sets to failure

I am mainly looking to gain size, so I hope I am on the right track.  I just started my second week into this program last night and so far I like it.  I am always open to any suggestions or comments.

I do my workouts in the evenings, right after I gets the kiddos to bed, and usually start around 8:00pm and go for about 60 minutes.  I do ballistic and static stretching before and after I workout.  So far this has worked well, as I can get my workout done, get my post-workout nutrition in, shower, drink a casein protein shake, and go right to bed.

Supplements consist of Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey, O.N. 100% Casein (right before bed), a good multivitamin, Udo's 3*6*9 Blend Oil, fish oil soft caps, and BCAA's.

I have my meals/snacks broke down to around every 2 hours.  For daily nutrition, I shoot for 3500-3600 calories, 325-375g of carbs, and 225-250g of protein.  My fat numbers get skewed due to the Udo's oil and the fish oils caps so I don't track them, but I do watch what kinds of fats I take in.

I hope to become a regular around here.  So far I like what I see!

Cheers!
Robert

I was into this workout/body building thingy in the early to mid 90's and went to the gym 6-7 days a week for 2-4 hrs. Sometimes 2x a day...Yeah I know I wish I could have stuck with it but my mind was elsewhere these past 10 years and now I want back in! I am going to be 38 this June and I weigh 251lbs. at 6ft tall and I really let it go too long. I am happy to say last Fall O signed up to 24 hour gym and about 20 or so sessions of personal training. So wish me luck I haven't set a date but I feel the time has come...so I'm getting ready to go!

Nice to meet everyone! Smile

Hello everybody!  Found this forum and it looked very informative.  I'm a 36 y/o male.  I've been in and out of weight lifting from about 16 to 32.  I've been very consistent for the past 4 years.  Nothing special really, I just lift cause I enjoy it and to keep the gut offSmile

Hi, not so new here....used to be a member about 3-4 yrs ago under the name shera.  Hi "mda1125" Marc!  Couldn't recall my password so I had to re-register.

Anyhoo, I'm 40 now and 2 kids later, and am back getting on track.  Stat's are 123lbs, 5'2 18-20%b.f

Am training at home so far, which does work, if you know what you are doingSmile  B4 kids the goal was to compete in figure, but I just don't have the discipline what with being a stay at home mom of two toddlers (2 and 3). Ya that's my cardio right there.

Just remembered how much good info was here, and the folks here were/are so great too.

Hi all, my first post here.  I came across this forum browsing the web, and it seems to be quite informative.  I've just turned 28, and I'm an ironworker that specializes in rebar placement.  I don't workout in a gym, as I find my job gives me a fairly good workout, though I know that I am lacking in some areas.  My job is most demanding on the legs, lower back, biceps, and shoulders.  My chest is hardly ever used, and is one area I've often thought of working on.

I went to a local suppliment store yesterday, and picked up some ready mix creatine and whey protein mix, and am starting my regimen today.  I'm only about 140lbs and 5'8, so I'm looking to bulk up a bit.  I will post some pictures later.

I'm 28, 68Kg, 175cm and body fat unknown, I have worked out in the past but for the last 2 years I had done nothing until January this year.

My current goal is to attain a fitness models body by June 29th. I have never had abs before or always had too much fat to see them.

I live in costal town in Viet Nam so food choices, good gyms and the like are hard to come by, nutritionists don't exist here.

I work offshore, average 5 weeks at time with 2-4 weeks break. While I'm working offshore food choice is very limited, the gym is a small machine, one flat bench, treadmill and a boxing bag. I've also got very limited timeframes for doing exercise.

I'm currently eating 5 meals a day, 3 of which being a can of tuna in vegetable oil with a large salad including tomato and zucchini.

While I had my time off work, I hired a personal trainer from the best gym in the city; he put me on a course of cardio/abs on an odd day, then up to me on the even day. I found improvements before but now I have started to slow down again and need some direction. I need assistance with my routine, nutrition and timetable for eating and working out.

I won't go on here, but will post my quires in the Nutrition and Training Forums.

This looks like a great site.

Hi everbody! My name is Melissa and I am 29 yrs old. I have 3 girls ages 2,7, and 9. I workout often, and am at 11% body fat. Exercise is my passion, and I even took a part time job at my gym helping out in the weight room. I am hoping to learn more on how to build, and about supplements. I am looking foward to chatting with people who won't think I am too thin to be exercising. Just because I am small(5'1, 107lbs) doesn't mean I can't exercise and weight lift! Besides, when people tell me I don't need to work out cuz I am already small, I always ask them how they think I got this way in the first place! Bye!

That's awesome Gym Bunny, after 5 weeks of putting in time like that you're well on your way to making this a constant habit that will pay off big time!!

Hello everyone,
Spent 20 yrs in the U.S. Airforce. Retired in 2000 at 215lbs,the age of 39. Now 8 years later..... was sitting (yes, sitting) at 320lbs. Doctor started giving me pills for high blood pressure told me if I don't start doing something Im going to need lots of meds shortly. So, six weeks ago I got up and back into the gym. Currently at 283lbs. Feel better, looking better, but still a long way to go. I've been reading DBB forums for a couple of months now. Lots of info here, also like the way the posts are run. Very clean this forum. I decided to join up and be heard. I still have lots of questions.

Thanks,
Wetdawg
